Chapter 663 Awakened Shadow Blade

TartKing wasn’t fast enough to jump. She drove her greatsword straight into the ground, using the blade to block the spreading silver arc.
Her shield flared up and shattered instantly.
A big chunk of her HP dropped. Healing proc’d right after, restoring a bit of her mental stamina.
PineappleBeer was in the worst spot by far.
She instinctively tried to use Shadow Shift, but her splitting headache delayed her reaction.
When the silver arc swept toward her feet, she barely had time to raise her blade and block.
Mid–air, Riley saw the danger and tossed a Short–Range Escape Scroll without hesitation.
The scroll’s bright light wrapped around PineappleBeer, yanking her safely out of the arc’s range and dropping her behind TartKing.
PineappleBeer stumbled, and TartKing caught her at once.
By the time Riley landed, the Gatekeeper had already repositioned.
It stood right beside the central stone lamp, the faint crack on its chest slowly mending itself with silver light.
Riley’s gaze turned cold.
“It can repair itself?”
The situation looked completely hopeless for them.
TartKing saw it too.
“We can’t let it stay near the lamp, right?”
Riley let out a heavy breath.
The small wound they’d fought so hard to land was already halfway healed.
The Gatekeeper gave them no time to catch their breath.
It lifted its long blade once more.
This time, the entire star track confinement zone lit up all at once.
Silver lines crept in from every direction like a tightening net, shrinking their safe zone little by little. Only a tiny patch of open ground on the outer altar remained for the three of them.
Riley scanned their surroundings and read the situation in an instant.
If they kept retreating, the net would corner them against the stone pillars.

If they charged forward, they’d get sandwiched between the Gatekeeper and the stone lamp.
She pulled out her last two Blast Rupe Spikes.
“Tart, I’m gonna blow up the right–side tracks in a sec. Take Pine and circle left.”
TartKing asked immediately, “What about you?”
“I’ll hold it back.”
“No.” PineappleBeer spoke up suddenly. “The left side is a death trap.”
Riley glanced over at her.
PineappleBeer’s fingertips trembled slightly, but her eyes stayed locked on the ground.

“Three steps left and the path seals completely. After you blow the right tracks, the only way through is the middle. We have to step in the tiny gaps between the dark lines.”
TartKing stared at the floor, seeing nothing but endless silver lines.
“Where’s the gap?”
PineappleBeer lifted a hand and pointed.
“Right there.”
TartKing followed her gaze and finally spotted a narrow black crack less than half a foot wide, wedged between two glowing silver
lines.
She glanced at her massive greatsword, then at the cramped gap, and chose to trust their judgment.
“Be careful, Burger.”
Riley already hurled the Blast–Rune Spikes.
The two spikes embedded themselves in the right–side track net, one after the other.
Boom!
The explosion shattered the silver light, throwing the right–side star tracks into temporary chaos.
Riley charged forward first, hacking a path open with her dual axes.
TartKing supported PineappleBeer as she followed close behind, switching her staff back to her greatsword mid–step and swatting away the incoming thin silver lines.
She wasn’t nearly as agile as Riley, and the heavy sword drained her stamina with every block, but she never slowed down
The Gatekeeper slid in from the flank.
it swung its long blade straight down at Tartking.
Riley was too far to turn back and intercept in time.

PineappleBeer’s head shot up.
Her head still throbbed violently, but in that split second, every tangled line in her vision vanished, and the whole world slowed to a crawl.
She heard her own heartbeat loud and clear, along with a distant voice calling out to her.
The voice was far clearer than before.
Like it was just on the other side of a closed door.
PineappleBeer’s pupils contracted sharply.
She shoved TartKing aside hard.
A burst of shadow erupted beneath her feet.
This was no ordinary Shadow Shift.
Silver–gray specks swirled together with dark shadow.
She vanished on the spot, reappearing instantly behind the Gatekeeper’s blade.
Her Time–Severing Shadow Blade struck true.
The strike was impossibly fast.
Even Riley only caught a faint afterimage of the movement.
The blade tip slipped through a gap in the armor, piercing dead center into the star line junction behind the Gatekeeper’s shoulder.
The Star Track Gatekeeper froze mid–action.
Its blade veered half an inch off course, brushing past TartKing’s shoulder and slicing off a lock of her hair.
