Chapter 706 Back to the Snowfield

Chapter 706 Back to the Snowfield

Baal didn’t speak again.

Still, Riley knew the contract had fully taken effect.

A debt like this would come due sooner or later.

For now, she had no time to dwell on it.

A blinding burst of white light erupted the next instant.

The ground dropped out from under her.

She crashed out of midair and landed hard on her knees in the snow.

Frigid wind slammed into her facethe distinct, bitter wind of the snowfield.

Riley propped herself up on her axe and lifted her head.

The sky hung pale and gray.

Snow drifted sideways through the air, melting into cold water the moment it touched her skin. Rolling snow dunes stretched into the distance, with the dark, low outline of a barren forest further on the horizon.

She was back.

Back on the snowfield.

TartKing landed right beside her. She tumbled halfway across the snow, nearly losing grip of her staff entirely.

She lay stunned for several seconds before snapping her head up.

We’reback on the snowfield?

Riley pushed herself upright.

The second she moved, sharp pain shot through her chest and every limb.

She nearly stumbled off balance.

TartKing scrambled up at once to steady her, automatically casting her healing light.

The Divine Mirror’s lingering debuffs still weakened healing efficiency, but the rejection effect from the tomb was gone.

TartKing breathed out in quiet relief.

Riley checked her status interface.

She was afflicted with multiple negative status effects, and most of her gear had suffered severe durability loss

Even so, she was alive

They both were alive.

Riley opened the server channel, only to find it eerily silent.

Even during brutal blizzards, the server never went completely quiet like this.

She switched over to the guild channel next.

Every name on the Hope Guild roster was grayed out.

Hanna, RedBean, Bruce, NorthWind, LoneWolf, Felix, Nobody, ToxicReaper.

All offline.

TartKing’s expression dropped immediately as she pulled up her own comms panel.

Why’s everyone offline?

Riley checked the system time.

They had returned with several hours remaining on the dungeon raid timer.

Per the 15thfloor transit town rules, most survivors should still be waiting in the main hall for the dungeon to end.

Dead silence and grayedout IDs did not mean they were dead.

It was far more likely that everyone was still trapped inside the dungeon, cut off from the snowfield’s external network.

Riley tapped on Pineapple Beer’s profile.

Gray. No signal, no response.

She closed the interface without a word.

TartKing crouched in the snow, staff in hand, and scanned their surroundings carefully.

Wind and snow swept over their bodies nonstop.

Distant monster growls rumbled through the cold air.

The snowfield offered no safety.

It would not grant them a single moment to grieve, not after losing a teammate.

Riley squeezed her eyes shut briefly.

Tart

TartKing looked up at her

Pine said it herself. We trust her.

TartKing’s lips trembled, but she nodded firmly.

Yean.

Then we focus on what we need to do next.

TartKing sniffled softly.

Head back to camp?

Riley checked their current coordinates.

They were not far from the base. If they avoided large monster patrols along the way, they could get back quickly by snowmobile.

Riley opened her Inventory and summoned her snowmobile.

The vehicle settled on the snow, instantly dusted with fresh blowing snow.powder.

TartKing brought out her own snowmobile as well. Before the dungeon raid, PineappleBeer had spent time teaching her how to operate it, and she could ride independently now.

Riley climbed onto her vehicle. Her left arm was still stiff and sluggish, forcing her to steer entirely with her right hand.

TartKing noticed at once and offered, Want me to drive and carry you?

Riley saw the wounds covering TartKing’s body and refused gently.

I’m good.
