Chapter 707 Under Siege
The two snowmobiles bolted across the snowy gully.

Three crawlers chased after them for dozens of yards, but the wind, snow and rough terrain widened the gap. Eventually, the monsters gave up the pursuit.
Further ahead, they ran into even more monsters.
Ice–shell wolves roamed in the distance. Several tall, slender shadowy creatures burst out from beneath the snow, spooked by the rumble of the engines. Two flying beasts circled overhead, seemingly sizing them up for a dive attack..
TartKing glanced back multiple times, her expression growing grimmer by the second.
“Why are there so many monsters even in broad daylight?”
Riley swerved to dodge a cluster of sharp ice spikes sticking out of the snow.
“It might be because the players were absent during the dungeon raid, letting the monsters expand their hunting range. Or the snowfield’s difficulty just got upgraded.”
The camp had no main player force left to defend it.
Only the native NPCs, tamed pets, auto–turrets, automated crossbow turrets, elemental altars, and the energy supplies Riley had sent back earlier…
From the footage she’d seen through the communicator, most of the camp was already in ruins.
After all this time, she had no idea what was ever left standing.
Riley tightened her grip on the handlebars.
Neither of them stopped once along the way.
They swerved around small monster packs. When they couldn’t avoid them, Riley cleared a path with her axe while Tartkipg covered her with fireballs and her greatsword.
Riley was in terrible shape.
The Divine Mirror’s backlash tore through her chest every time she exerted strength. Her stiff left arm kept her from unleashing her full power. She was also missing one Storm Splitter Axe, so all her usual combo moves were off the table.
While steering, she chugged every recovery potion she had on hand.
artoration potions tasted bitter, while TartKing continuously cast healing spells on them both

TartKing’s head shot up.
“It’s coming from the camp!”
Riley twisted the throttle all the way open.
The two snowmobiles raced up the final snow ridge
The wind and snow were even fiercer at the top.
But from this vantage point, they had a clear view of the camp.

Flames blazed high into the sky. A huge stretch of the outer camp lay in ruins. Sections of the wooden fences and outer walls had collapsed. The outer warehouse was nothing but charred framing.
A makeshift trench had been dug around the row houses, lined with sharpened stakes, scrap iron, ice spikes, and jerry–rigged magical traps.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Automated crossbows loosed a volley of bolts, slamming into several monsters outside the trench.
The beasts fell, only for the ones behind them to trample their bodies and keep charging forward.
Monsters swarmed the entire perimeter.
There were regular snowfield creatures they’d seen before, alongside tougher beasts covered in black flame and bone armor. Drawn by some unknown lure inside the camp, they kept throwing themselves at the makeshift defenses.
One of the braziers on West Watchtower Two sputtered out.
A young guard leaned down to grab more coal. The second his fingers touched the iron clamp, the snow directly outside the barricade bulged upward.
“Monster incoming on the left!”
His throat was already raw, making his voice rough and hoarse.

A half–armored woman beside him immediately fired her crossbow. The steel bolt cut through the snowstorm and buried itself in the snowbank.
The snow exploded outward.
A gray–shelled monster burst up from underneath. Its front claws latched onto the spike barricade, right before a second bolt shot straight down its open mouth. The monster flipped over backward, dead on impact. Two more beasts instantly charged over its corpse
“Pour the oil!”
Someone dragged over a half–barrel of murky black fuel oil.
