Chapter 210 A Twist of Fate
If one day the real heiress fell in love with Justin she would naturally tell Jeremy herself. Jeremy adores his granddaughter. Justin has the skills and the charm, so he would probably agree to their marriage without hesitation.
Justin stared at Curtis, his eyes filled with something complicated.
Curtis frowned at his buddy suspiciously. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Justin drew a deep breath. “Will you give Ms. Barton to me?”
Curtis leaned back on the couch, calm and casual. “Of course. Didn’t we already agree on that?”
Justin watched him seriously. “I went to Nera Club today to deliver Mr. Barton’s message. He wants Adriana to file for divorce with you.”
The air around Curtis turned heavy. “Are you upset because I didn’t blame you for what happened earlier?”
Justin shook his head. “Adriana panicked and broke a glass. She used a tissue to stop the bleeding and put it on the table. I took that tissue and used her blood for a DNA test with Jeremy.” He paused, then said it clearly. “Adriana is the real heiress of the Bartons.”
At first, Justin had wanted to keep it from Curtis hoping he could find a way to make them divorce. But making Curtis his enemy? He knew he wouldn’t win.
“So,” Justin demanded bluntly, “I’m asking you to divorce Adriana.”
Curtis should get a divorce. He wanted to marry Adriana himself.
Curtis didn’t react for a long time. His mind went completely blank.
It felt like Justin was speaking another language.
After a long silence, Curtis suddenly stood up, staring at Justin. “What did you just say? Say again.”
Adriana is the real heiress! The real Nicole!
Could there really be such a crazy coincidence?
“You must have noticed,” Justin said quietly, “Adriana looks a lot like Jeremy’s late wife. Much more than that fake heiress.”
Curtis stood there, frozen. He didn’t say a word.
From the bedroom, Adriana peeked out, wearing only Curtis’s shirt. She had come to check why Curtis wasn’t returning after answering the door. “Curtis!”
She didn’t expect a guest this late. When she saw Justin, she quickly turned around and hid behind the doorframe, showing only half of her face. “You two… ”
Justin looked at Curtis one last time. “You have tonight to think it over. You prom let me have Ms. Barton.” Then, he sensibly left.
Curtis rubbed the center of his brows, still stunned, even after Justin was already gone.
His wife was the Bartons‘ true heiress?
Haha.
What a strange, twisted kind of fate.
“Curtis?” Adriana looked worried. “Did you two have a fight?”
Curtis glanced at her, his expression complicated. He held out his arms. “Come here. Hug.”
“You hear me?” When Adriana didn’t respond fast enough, he leaned over and play… bit her out of jealousy.
Adriana laughed and nodded. “Okay.”
In her mind, Curtis was overthinking it. Justin only had eyes for Ms. Barton. There was no way he’d ever be interested in her.
Adriana figured Curtis was overthinking it.
That night, Adriana slept peacefully. Curtis didn’t.
He sent Justin a message, warning him to keep quiet for now and not let any rumors spread. If people found out too soon, Adriana could be in real danger.
Justin never replied.
Curtis sat alone on the balcony, smoking through the night, frustration growing with every breath.
Being the real heiress of the Bartons … He didn’t know if it would bring Adriana fortune or destruction.
She’d lived most of her life as an orphan, bullied and mistreated. If she suddenly learned she was the sole heir to the Bartons‘ empire, what kind of impact would that have?
Would it lift her up or break her?
It wasn’t just the shock of status. There was still the mystery behind her biological paren. deaths. Even now, no one knew the full truth.
Everyone suspected Chandler. But Chandler hid too well and cleaned everything too perfectly. And Adriana was so trusting. How could she ever compete against Chandler and Danielle?
