Chapter 211 A Strange Invitation
Being dragged into a family’s dark secrets and power struggles all of a sudden, it felt suffocating.
The next morning, Adriana’s alarm rang.
She got up, washed up, ate, and got ready for school.
Curtis had already left the hou
She felt a little disappointed. Adriana thought she’d wake up and see him there.
He’d left a message saying he had to leave early for the office to handle a project.
Adriana ate the breakfast he made before leaving and walked to school satisfied.
At the school entrance, a crowd of student gathered, all snapping pictures.
Adriana walked over in curiosity. She spotted Yolanda there.
“Yolanda, who is that?” Adriana waved at her.
Yolanda rolled her eyes. “Justin. He showed up in the early morning just to bring Nicole to the international class.” She snorted, then added. “I have to admit–Justin is too good- looking. All these girls are just waiting for him to come out and take pictures of him.”
Adriana sighed. Looks really are everything.
“He’s coming out! Oh my gosh, why didn’t someone this good–looking become a celebrity?”
Girls squealed and rushed toward Justin, trying to snap photos. The scene turned chaotic. Adriana got pushed to the side and almost fell face–first into the flowerbed–when suddenly, someone grabbed her by the waist and steadied her. He didn’t take advantage or act weird He simply helped her stand safely.
“Tha-” Adriana started to thank him but froze. The one who caught her was the culp
Justin seemed unaware of how attractive he was. Even without trying, he stood out in any crowd. But today, he clearly put in effort. His tailored suit fit his tall frame perfectly. With his striking face and measured posture, he looked like something sculpted by the maker himself.
Adriana instinctively stepped back and gave an awkward smile. “Thanks, M. Hotchner.”
A strange invitation
Justin smiled gently. “Ms. Adriana, Nicole has acted rudely to you many times. Yesterday, I was only passing along Mr. Barton’s message. If offended you, I’m sorry. I was wondering after school today, if you have time, would you join me for dinner?”
Adriana let out a small grunt and immediately thought about refusing.
“I know it’s sudden and a bit odd. It’s fine if you say no,” Justin said first and he
Yolanda’s eyes widened in sudden understanding. “Yes! Exactly! People say guys like him usually do!”
Inside the car, Justin was staring out the window thinking about how he should behave
tonight to impress Adriana. He suddenly sneezed several times in a row.
He had no idea that, at that moment, someone had already labeled him as a guy in a different department.
The driver glanced back at him and spoke helplessly. “Mr. Justin, Ms. Nicole said you need to buy her the latest designer bag, these new items from several brands, pastries from that handmade bakery in the south of the city, and these pieces of jewelry.”
The driver looked just as worn out as the list in Justin’s hand. Nicole kept on endless outrageous demands on Justin. The worst part is he let her and never ed.
Justin took the list and smirked. “Oh? And how exactly did she put it?”
The driver sighed. “Ms. Nicole said she’s the only heiress. Everything the family owns belongs to her. Since you eat her food and wear her clothes, buying these for her isn’t too much to ask.”
Justin let out a cold laugh, his eyes darkening. “Buy them.”
The driver glanced at him uncertainly. “Mr. Justin, do you really plan to keep spoiling her?”
Justin leaned back in his seat, casually playing with a priceless emerald pendant between his fingers. His lips curved into a faint smile. “Do you know what the most painful thing in life is?” he murmured. “It isn’t to have never owned something. It’s to have owned it once and then be forced to give it all back.”
