Chapter 212 The Fall Before the Crash
Justin used to give Nicole everything she wanted He didn’t mind spending money on her. because one day, when the truth finally came out, he would take back every single thing with interest .
She thought the inheritance belonged to her? What a joke.
Before Justin knew Nicole was a fake, he had already been hesitant. Marryin her, even if it was just for show, made his skin crawl.
After he learned she was fake, he actually felt relieved,
He looked out the car window toward the university,
Now that he knew the real heiress was Adriana, he couldn’t help but feel grateful.
Classroom.
Adriana and Yolanda had just taken their seats when Nicole walked in, surrounded by a group of classmates.
“Ms. Nicole, is it true you’re the only heir of the Bartons?”
Being the heiress of the Bartons allowed Nicole to get everything she wanted wherever she went.
She puffed up her chest proudly and said with a smirk, “Of course. The one and only heiress of the Bartons is me.”
Nicole stopped by Adriana’s desk, purposely speaking loud enough for everyone to hear. “Unlike some people, so full of themselves. Maybe try looking in the mirror and face reality.”
Cheryl, seeing her backup arrive, chimed in with a mocking laugh. “Some people are shameless. They love playing the side chick, acting like someone’s sugar baby.”
“Who are you calling shameless?” Yolanda snapped, ready to pick a fight. This wom mouth was way too annoying.
Cheryl glared at her. “Yolanda, don’t think sucking up to Adriana means you’ll get close to Curtis. Let me tell you this, only the man who marries Nicole will inherit Lincoln Group. Curtis is about to get kicked out of his family! Whoever marries our Nicole is the real heir.”
Yolanda rolled her eyes. “Look at you, nobody thinks you’re all that!”
Adriana looked at them calmly and sighed helplessly. “Cheryl, this is as far as your vision in life will ever reach.”
Cheryl grabbed a book from the table and raised it, ready to throw it at Adriana.
Adriana stood up calmly and looked straight at her. “Looks like you haven’t suffered enough. I heard Matthew announced to the media that he canceled the engagement with the joneses. They can’t even protect you now. Without them backing you, what are you even worth?”
Cheryl’s face turned pale. Yolanda smiled and added on purpose, “The Jone Nera Club. This is so embarrassing. Everyone’s talking about how Natasha there and got kicked out.”
The whole class started whispering, some laughing, some looking at Cheryl. She couldn’t take it; Cheryl huffed and angrily walked back to her seat.
Nicole smirked coldly and looked at Adriana. “Just you wait. When Curtis gets kicked out of his family one day, don’t blame me for not warning you. If you don’t want your life to get too miserable, you better beg me for mercy when the time comes.”
Adriana glanced at Denton and felt a little upset for Curtis,
Harold was making it more and more obvious. He was clearing the path fo step.
He wanted to use Curtis’s hard work to pave the path for Denton,
“Denton! Over here!” The class was quiet, focused on studying, when Nicole suddenly shouted rudely.
Denton’s face stayed grim. He didn’t even look at Nicole. He walked past her and sat next to Adriana.
Adriana frowned, confused about why Denton chose to sit beside her.
She didn’t talk to him, simply focusing on the lesson. Denton didn’t bother her either. They sat next to each other in silence but did not disturb each other.
Adriana stole a few glances at him. This kid really did look a lot like Curtis. His eyebrows, his quiet eyes, even his calm way of sitting. Seven or eight percent resemblance.
When the lecturer finished the class and left, Denton was quietly working on his notes.
He was hunger for knowledge and never wasted a single chance to learn.
Adriana admired that. He was hardworking and disciplined. But when she remembered he was working this hard to fight her husband for the inheritance, she suddenly wasn’t so impressed anymore.
