“When he realized he messed up, Michael didn’t reflect. He ran from it. Grandpa cut him off financially and forced him to carry the debt alone. A man with no sense of responsibility thought of one solution. He used his wife and her family. He sweet–talked her, took all her money, and got addicted to gambling. He believed if he bet around a hundred million, he could win back billions. He even ignored her begging and pawned the heirlooms her parents left her.”
Curtis continued, his tone getting colder. “When she finally saw what kind of man he really was and wanted a divorce, he refused. She asked for money. Michael had none.
“When Grandpa found out, he was furious. He kicked your dad out of the house.
“But he already owed gambling debts. You think the casino people would just walk away? They took him and told him to get money from Grandpa and his wife. But she had nothing left. So they made Michael lure her out instead. Because she was known as one of the most beautiful women in Harborton.”
Curtis stopped for a moment. His whole body tensed. Even his voice trembled.
The veins on the back of his hand stood out.
Denton’s body tensed up.
He couldn’t imagine what happened afterward.
Denton was horrified.
But Curtis kept going. “She was already pregnant when it happened. Michael tricked her into meeting those men. They violated, tortured, and abused her. She completely broke down afterwards.”
A once sheltered rich girl who believed in love was destroyed. She turned into someone who lost her sanity.
“They even broke Michael’s leg right in front of her.”
Curtis gave a small, bitter laugh. “And instead of reflecting on himself, he blamed her. He said that if she had given him the money earlier, none of this would have happened. For years, he mentally tortured the woman who had already gone mad. He called her a slut. He called me, after I was born, a bastard.”

The day Curtis was born, the first thing that woman did was to try to strangle him.
Harold rushed in and snatched the baby from her hands. Later, he confirmed through a DNA test that Curtis was indeed a Lincoln. Harold saved Curtis’s life.
But after that, everything only got worse. Michael started drinking heavily. He stayed out all night. After he broke his leg, he became insecure, angry, and violent.
Their marriage turned toxic. They dragged young Curtis down with them.
When both parents were lunatics, how can the child grow up normal?
Even before Curtis could remember, he was being abused. And when his memory finally formed, his mother became something worse than a stranger. She treated him like her enemy. Every time she saw him, all she saw was the reminder of how she was violated. She was already pregnant with him then.
Curtis never hated her. As a child, he even felt sorry for her. He never called that woman his mom. But he also never thought of hurting her.
She hurt him a thousand times. All he thought was, just hold on. It’ll be better when I grow up.
But she only grew more extreme.
When Michael didn’t come home, she recorded videos of her abusing Curtis and sent them to him.
When Michael was out partying with other women, she made Curtis stand in the garden all night.
There were many times he would’ve died if Harold hadn’t arrived in time.
Harold wanted to take Curtis away. She refused.
She said, “We’re all crazy in this house. If we’re crazy, then Curtis should be too. He should stay and suffer with us.”
Later, Michael brought another woman home. That was when she finally snapped.
She grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the woman to death. Then she turned toward Curtis, ready to kill him.
Little Curtis was crying and begging her to stop, but all he saw in her eyes was killing intent.
