Juliet’s face darkened. “Anyway, if you think you’re getting a piece of Harold’s inheritance, forget it.”
Michael and Juliet both felt so sure of themselves.
Since Harold hadn’t left a will, everything he left behind would be theirs.
Adriana thought these people were just ridiculous. Years ago, they had wanted nothing to do with the Lincoln Group. Now that Curtis had made it successful, suddenly every last one of them wanted a share.
It was honestly pathetic.
Curtis gave a cold laugh and waited quietly outside the emergency room.
After seeing Michael and Juliet’s true colors, Curtis suddenly felt a strange sense of relief.
He realized this was probably exactly what Harold wanted in his final days–to let these clowns put on a show.
The emergency room doors opened, and the doctor came out. “Mr. Harold is stable for now, but he’ll need to stay in intensive care for 48 hours. If he makes it through this critical period, we can move him to a regular hospital room.”
Curtis exhaled in relief, but everyone else instantly fell silent.
After all that chaos, Harold had actually pulled through—he hadn’t died.
Denton let out a cold laugh. “Grandpa’s fine. He’s got plenty of time to make a will. Dad, Mom, looks like you made the wrong bet.”
He walked away, his face blank.
He saw things clearly now–there was no real love in this so–called family.
He had long since given up on the idea of family bonds. As his birth parents, Michael and Juliet had only ever seen him as a ticket to a life of luxury–nothing more.
Once they got what they wanted, they tossed him aside without a second thought.
“Take good care of my grandpa. I’ll be staying in Harborton for a while.” Curtis looked at Ernest and spoke in a low voice.
Ernest nodded.
After Curtis left with Adriana, chaos soon broke out again outside the emergency room.
“Michael, what are we going to do now? With Harold in intensive care, no one can visit him. Once he gets out, there’ll be plenty of time for him to write a will. If he leaves his money to Curtis, we’re left with nothing,” some distant relatives whispered anxiously.

Michael looked just as grim, and even Juliet was starting to panic.
She clutched Michael’s arm, frantic. “Michael … what if Harold leaves us nothing…?”
Juliet was really starting to lose it.

After all, Michael had given away all his rights to the inheritance years ago with that stupid agreement.
Michael’s face darkened as he glanced at Juliet. “What are you panicking for? He’s still in intensive care, right? Who knows, maybe he’ll just die in there.”
No one else said a word.
Ernest sighed and walked away.
Once Ernest was gone, Michael glanced around at the other relatives. “Can any of you bribe a doctor? Isn’t that easy? Just do something about it.”
But they all shook their heads.
This was a public hospital–bribery was risky. If anyone ever found out, they’d all go down with it.
No one dared to take the risk.
Michael snorted when he saw that no one would help.
Your dad wakes Even so, all the distant relatives kept fanning the flames. “Michael, up, he’s probably not leaving you anything. I bet he’ll give everything to Denton and Curtis. Then what? You’ll have to go begging your own son for money. That would be pathetic.”
“That’s right, Juliet. You know how expensive everything is. Every time I took you out, we had to spend at least ten thousand. You need money to live well. If you two get nothing and have to rely on your son, you can forget about the high life,” Rosa chimed in.
Juliet’s expression soured. She’d never let herself rely on her son for money.
And now that Denton is older, he’s not as obedient as before. What if he stops supporting us one day?
And besides… why should any of Harold’s money go to Curtis? He doesn’t even need it.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
“At this point, your only hope is for Harold not to make a will.”
The others left, still muttering their nasty suggestions.
Michael shot Juliet a hard look.
“We can’t let Harold make a will. Can you … do something about it?” Juliet whispered.
Michael glared at her. “That’s my father. You want me to kill my own dad?”

Juliet shrank back in fear.
Just then, Danielle and Chandler arrived. “Michael, sorry we’re late. How’s Mr. Harold?”

“He’s been moved to intensive care, but no one knows what will happen. If he wakes up…” Michael sounded annoyed.
“I bet Mr. Harold will get a will drafted right away,” Chandler said with a grin. “Right now, Denton has the shares and control of the Lincoln Group, but it’s the money that really matters to you. If Harold gives all the shares to Denton, he’ll probably leave the rest to Curtis. I heard him say that to my dad.”
Michael’s face turned pale as he stared at Chandler. “He will give all the money to Curtis?”
