Chapter 279 Want to Escape
Yolanda raised an eyebrow. “Not bad, Adriana. You finally used your brain.”
Adriana grinned at Yolanda. “The classroom is really quiet.”
Without Nicole, it really was quiet.
The two of them snickered for a while, whispering as they left the classroom.
At the campus entrance.
Justin’s car was still parked there.

Adriana and Yolanda both jumped a little, looking around to make sure the impostor wasn’t anywhere nearby before finally accepting that Nicole really was in prison.
Justin smiled at Adriana. “Ms. Xander, Ms. Spencer, would you be willing to honor me and grab a meal together?”
Yolanda didn’t dare offend Justin and stayed silent.
Adriana shook her head. “It’s not a great time…”
She didn’t know why, but she didn’t want to get too close to Justin. Probably because his methods against Nicole were too ruthless… Curtis had said it himself. He wasn’t a good person.
“Ms. Xander, we’ve known each other for quite some time now. We’re at least friends. Although the matter of Nicole impersonating the Bartons‘ heir is over, Curtis’s crisis hasn’t truly been resolved. He’s holding a large inheritance but has nowhere to use it. No one wants him to succeed if he starts a business. The moment he uses that money to start one, a pack of wolves will swarm him. So the best option is investment. But small companies don’t dare take his money, and big companies all want to scam him. Only by working with the Bartons can both sides win. Don’t you think?”
Justin smiled gently, like some fallen immortal with no ill intent at all.
But Adriana felt that everything about him screamed calculation.
She glanced at Justin and understood perfectly. Justin wanted Curtis to cooperate with the Bartons and invest the money into the Bartons‘ projects as soon as possible, so no one would keep fixating on Curtis’s inheritance.
It was a good thing, with high returns, but all investments carried risks. She still needed to

discuss it with Curtis.
“I’ll call Curtis.” Adriana stepped aside to make the call.

“When you’re with Curtis, can’t you make decisions on your own?” Justin asked casually. “It feels like you have to ask him about everything. That doesn’t sound very free.”
He was clearly stirring the pot.
Even Yolanda could tell. She widened her eyes slightly. This man is … kind of sneaky.
Still, it’s not obvious enough yet. I’ll keep watching.
Adriana didn’t respond to Justin. She genuinely didn’t catch the implication in his words.
“Ms. Spencer, do you think Curtis really loves Adriana?” Justin smiled at Yolanda once Adriana walked away to make the call.
Yolanda took a deep breath and swallowed.
Oh, no… I know perfectly well he’s trying to stir something up, but I feel like I’m about to fall for the handsome–guy trap.
“Uh… yeah, I think so?” Yolanda replied with a smile.
“If he truly loved her, Adriana wouldn’t be this humble. She wouldn’t even need to call and ask before having dinner with someone,” Justin said softly.
Yolanda’s mouth twitched. That’s respect. Respect, okay?
But considering Justin was now the acting CEO of Barton Group, she still smiled politely. “Maybe. Curtis can be a bit controlling sometimes. He keeps Adriana on a pretty tight leash!”
The smile at the corner of Justin’s lips deepened as he looked at Yolanda. “A few days ago, your father personally visited Barton Group. I received him myself. He’s a very interesting soul. Just as interesting as you.”
Yolanda’s back tightened.
Crap… He’s definitely aiming at me.
Justin’s smile hid danger. He was more of a threat than anyone else she’d ever encountered.
“I know, right? My dad’s pretty funny,” Yolanda said, pretending she didn’t understand.

“Ms. Spencer, do you think there’s any possibility that Curtis and Adriana might get divorced?” Justin asked innocently.
Yolanda took a deep breath.
No chance.
Curtis and Adriana are perfect together.
But Yolanda was genuinely intimidated by Justin. He looked harmless, but she could feel it. He was just as capable as Curtis…
High–level hunters always gave off a dangerous aura.
Yolanda wanted to run, but there was no one to save her right now. It was pure torment.
Even with the skills she’d honed during her years as a flight attendant, she was struggling. “Mr. Hotchner… I think they probably won’t…”
Justin’s eyes
darkened.
“I mean, whether they divorce or not isn’t up to me.” Yolanda immediately changed her tune.
“Then you would be willing to help me, right?” Justin smiled faintly. “I’m serious about Adriana. If she were with me, all of us would get along much better.”
Yolanda felt she needed to report this to Curtis. Justin was openly trying to steal his wife.
Still, doing it this openly was better than plotting in the shadows. At least it wasn’t despicable.
But Yolanda really wanted to escape right now.
“Yolanda, my bike broke. The driver’s coming to pick me up. Do you and Adriana want to come with me?” Denton suddenly appeared from nowhere, squeezing his even more innocent face between Justin and Yolanda.
