Chapter 283 No Manners
:
After a long silence, Matthew spoke again. “I’m here to see Curtis.”
Adriana looked at Matthew suspiciously.
“Be good. Go home first. I’ll talk to him for a bit.” Curtis rubbed Adriana’s head.
Adriana was worried, but she still went back inside.

“I overheard the person behind everything calling my dad. The rough idea was that they want to scam all the inheritance you’re holding. So my dad wants me to pull you in under the name of a project investment, but the real goal is to cheat you out of your money.” Matthew didn’t hide anything and told Curtis directly.
“Did you hear who that person was?” Curtis asked.
“They were very cautious. My dad was cautious, too. But my dad’s attitude toward that person was extremely respectful. The Langfords are already near the top of the business pyramid. Anyone who can make him act like that definitely isn’t some junior.” Matthew guessed the other party had to be a heavyweight.
Definitely not someone young.
“Someone who can make your dad that respectful… My grandpa is already dead, and it can’t be Jeremy… So who else?” Curtis thought for a moment. “The only ones staying low–profile right now are the Gills. On the surface, Marcus is in charge, but in reality, his father, Elbert, still holds the power…”
Curtis had suspected the Gills before, but they’d never done anything too obvious, and there was no evidence against them.
“The quieter they are, the more likely it is. I have an idea.” Matthew looked at Curtis. “If you trust me, we can work together and test it out.”
See if they could flesh out the person behind everything through this cooperation.
“Suddenly being nice and wanting to help me? You either want something or you’re up to no good.” Curtis looked at Matthew. “Say it. What do you want from me?”
At heart, Matthew is still a businessman. He won’t do something so thankless for nothing.
Is he still not over Adriana?

“Can you divorce Adriana?” Matthew asked pointedly.
“Keep dreaming.” Curtis turned to leave.
“I know you won’t divorce.” Matthew took a deep breath and spoke again. “You just need to cooperate with me so I can get what I want.”
“Like what?” Curtis turned back to look at Matthew.
“Like shares in Langford Group and actual control.” Matthew’s voice was low.
Curtis raised an eyebrow. “Sure.”
At Langford Group.
Rex swaggered toward the elevator while holding Natasha’s hand, just as Matthew stepped out.
Rex had no intention of giving way and was arrogant as hell. “Well, well, Natasha. Look who it is. Mr. Langford. Oh, I heard you might be getting kicked out of the company pretty soon.”
Rex had just come out of Raymond’s office. Raymond had said that if Matthew failed to secure Curtis’s investment, he’d be kicked out of Langford Group.
Rex was already gloating in advance.
“Get lost.” Matthew’s voice was low as he told Rex to move.
Natasha was a little afraid of Matthew and tried to step aside from the elevator entrance, but Rex grabbed her wrist. “What are you scared of? We’re taking the elevator. Why should we move?”
Rex sneered at Matthew. “Matthew, haven’t you always thought you’re legitimate, that you’re better than us? I don’t think that status will protect you forever!”
Bang! A dull thud echoed. Matthew didn’t waste words. He kicked Rex straight out.
Natasha screamed in fright.
Employees passing by saw Rex go flying… and all pretended they hadn’t seen a thing, turning around and leaving.

Matthew stepped out of the elevator and straightened his suit. After glancing coldly at Rex, who was curled up on the floor in pain and unable to even curse properly, he walked away.
“Rex…” Natasha rushed over worriedly. “I told you not to provoke him…”
Only then did Rex catch his breath. He went crazy and kicked a nearby trash can hard. “Matthew, I’m waiting for the day you get kicked out of the Langfords and kneel in front of
me!”
Natasha sighed and said nothing more.
Matthew walked straight into Raymond’s office. Raymond and Paige were busy cuddling.
“Raymond, try the ravioli I made for you. It’s delicious. Rex grew up suffering with me. When he was little, the only time he was happy was when he got to eat my ravioli.” Paige always played the sympathy card.
Matthew’s expression darkened as he looked at Paige. “Get out.”
Paige was unhappy. “Raymond, look what he’s doing!”
“I said, get out!” Matthew felt his good upbringing being worn away bit by bit.
Before, when he saw Curtis lose control, he’d think Curtis lacked manners. Now he just wanted to curse. Screw manners. Why bother with manners when dealing with shameless people like this?
“Raymond…” Paige looked like she was about to cry.
