Denton was heading there as well, but his trip was scheduled later. To be safe, everyone would stay together.
“Adriana, did you finish packing? Getting away might help clear your head,” Yolanda said from the doorway.
Adriana nodded.
Two years. These two years abroad would be enough. Enough to change. Enough to grow.
“Yolanda, I’m stepping out for a bit,” Adriana said after checking the time.
Yolanda gave her a nod, but her eyes stayed on Adriana with unease.
Since Curtis‘ death, Adriana had been eerily calm. So calm it was scary.
She hadn’t talked to anyone. She hadn’t cried. She hadn’t lost her temper. When the Lincolns stirred up drama, she ignored them. She stayed quiet. Like someone completely different.
Adriana left the house and headed to a coffee shop.
Irene was already there, sitting alone in sunglasses. When she saw Adriana, she stood and pulled her into a hug.
Adriana’s throat burned. Irene had always made her feel safe in a way she couldn’t explain. Wrapped in that hug, her eyes filled with tears.
“I just got back. I heard about Curtis. Don’t be scared. I’m here for you,” Irene said, rubbing her back in slow, soothing circles.
Adriana gave a small nod.
“I’ve made all the arrangements in Italy. Your due date’s not far. You’ll need to stay there until delivery. It’s safer. No matter how far they reach, the people who targeted Curtis can’t reach you there.”
Irene had come back for one reason–to get Adriana out of the country and protect the baby. This child was Curtis‘. It was Adriana’s. Nothing could happen to it.
“To be safe, when you get to Pastalia, don’t trust anyone who isn’t my person,” Irene warned again. “My job makes it hard to just walk away, but I’ll fake being sick if I have to. I’ll get there before the birth.”

Curtis‘ death had been too sudden. Irene hadn’t made it in time. But she was still Adriana’s aunt. And she would be there when the baby came into the world.
Adriana nodded again, eyes rimmed red. She didn’t know why Irene cared so much. But she needed it–the love.
“Don’t cry,” Irene said gently, pulling her in close again. “You need to be strong, Adriana. When you come back from Pastalia, things might get even messier.”
Irene let out a slow breath.
This visit wasn’t only about Adriana. She’d also found out that Jeremy’s condition was getting worse. Chandler had been drugging him for years. By the time anyone found out, it had already taken its toll on him.
Adriana wasn’t just anyone. She was the real heir of the Bartons. And her identity would surface before Jeremy took his final breath.
What waited for her wasn’t just a name. It was war. A war inside the Barton empire.
Adriana breathed deeply. She thought all she had to worry about was Curtis‘ estate and keeping their baby safe.
She didn’t know yet. She didn’t know she was the Barton family’s true daughter. And one day, she would inherit everything–the company and the Bartons‘ entire fortune.
After leaving Irene’s, Adriana went straight to Ainsworth Group.
She already knew. The moment Kenneth handed her that bouquet of white lilies, her gut told her everything.
Curtis wasn’t the kind of man who would go down quietly. Not with the enemies he had.
Every move he made had purpose. He had always played the long game.
All she needed to do now was survive. Keep herself and the baby safe. That was how she’d help him.
“Hello, Mrs. Lincoln.” Ronan greeted her in person, his expression unreadable. He clearly hadn’t expected her here.
“I wasn’t told you were coming today…” His voice trailed off.

Chapter 814 Moving Around
“Before my husband passed, most of Harold’s assets were tied up in Langford Group. Now that money’s stuck. People are disputing it. But Curtis had other holdings
But Curtis had other holdings–ones untouched)
Her voice was cool and even.
She wasn’t here to ask permission. She was here to make a statement. Before she left the country, she wanted to show every predator lurking around that she wasn’t defenseless. If they wied to come for her and the baby, they wouldn’t be facing some clueless widow.
“I heard Ainsworth Group’s been expanding fast. You’ve pulled in some high–profile projects lately. I assume you could use some solid backing?” Her tone stayed light, but her eyes didn’t Minch.
Right after the accident. Ainsworth Group exploded into the spotlight. The growth wasn’t just rapid. It was surgical
Curtis couldn’t be seen. He couldn’t touch the money himself. But she could.
And this? This couldn’t be coincidence. She was sure Curtis was running things behind the curtain.
It had never been the Lincoln Group that made Curtis powerful. He had made them what they
were.
Harold knew that too. That’s why he tried to shift everything to Denton.
He knew Curtis would come back. He always did.
“I want to announce a full investment. Everything Curtis left me is going into Ainsworth Group. It’s the only way I can secure something stable for me and the baby,” she said softly
