Chapter 315 Discussion
Ronan froze. This is surprising.

She was clearly standing behind Curtis, and this move said so loudly. But he didn’t jump to accept.
“I’ll … need some time. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Does that work for you?”
Adriana gave a nod.
That was all she needed to hear.
If Curtis were really gone, Ronan would’ve had full control. He wouldn’t need to stall or hesitate.
But he did. Which meant he had someone else to check with.
This entire visit had been a test.
Adriana gave a quiet smile and glanced down at her hands.
He was still out there. And that was all that mattered.
Right after Adriana left, Ronan pulled out his phone and called Justin. He needed Curtis on the line.
This wasn’t his call to make. Only Curtis could greenlight something this big.
…
At Justin’s place…
Curtis lay in bed with a blanket over his legs, sipping soup while his bones healed. Justin stepped inside, took one look, and frowned.
“You’re seriously this chill? Adriana’s pregnant. You almost died. And you’re not the slightest bit worried she might lose it from the stress?” He hated how relaxed Curtis looked. If the guy were working through the pain, pushing himself to the edge, maybe then he’d feel better about the whole thing.
Curtis didn’t look up. “My wife looks soft because I protect her well. Doesn’t mean she’s clueless.” He took another sip, then paused. “This soup’s garbage. You dumped in way too much salt. Next time, skip it.”

Justin’s jaw clenched. Before he could throw something back, his phone buzzed. Ronan was calling.
He smirked and answered, putting it on speaker. He thought work was coming for Curtis. “Ronan, let me guess. Got a job for Mr. Lincoln?”
“Mr. Lincoln, sir. Your wife came to the company today. She said she wants to liquidate all your personal assets and invest the full amount into the company. I can’t approve that myself.” Ronan’s voice cracked a little.
Curtis paused. He hadn’t expected that move.
He’d told Adriana before that Harold’s estate was too dangerous to pass to her. But his own fortune? That belonged to her. Every dollar of it. She had full control.
Still, he didn’t think she’d go this far.
She knew he was alive. She had figured out who really ran Ainsworth Group.
“Let her do it. Make it loud. Call the media. Turn public opinion into her shield.” His voice was calm, like always.
The second the call ended, Justin gave him a long look. “She knows you’re alive, doesn’t she? Her making that move at Ainsworth gave you away. Ronan wouldn’t have hesitated unless he already knew. She blew your cover.”
“I told you. She’s not stupid.” Curtis tried to sit up and move his legs. They didn’t budge. Both were still broken.
Justin gave a bitter laugh. “You really wrecked yourself. Stay still. If those bones don’t heal right, you’ll be dragging your leg for life.”
Curtis stayed quiet for a moment. Then he looked at him. “You’ve got time to stand here and trash talk? Jeremy’s getting worse by the day. Harborton isn’t safe anymore. Get him to Haldoria under the pretense of treatment.”
Haldoria had the best specialists for heart and vascular care. If Harold stayed in Harborton, Chandler and the others would eventually find a crack to slip through.
Haldoria was the only shot at keeping him safe.
“I’m already on it. But you need to brace yourself.” Justin leaned against the doorway. His tone dropped. “He knows his clock’s ticking. He’s gonna clear the path for Adriana before he goes. That man’s been carrying guilt forever. He lost his son and his daughter–in–law. Kept his granddaughter in the shadows. He wants to give her the entire world before he dies. If she can

He wasn’t being dramatic. If Adriana was just a spoiled wife, she’d crumble under the weight of what Harold planned to hand her.
And when she lost control, she’d draw every kind of threat and mess her way. Even Justin couldn’t cover her from all of that.
Jeremy was running out of time. He had already started laying everything out. That meant Adriana’s real identity could come out at any second.
Once it did, her life would be a whole different battlefield.
“You think I babied her too much? That I made her soft?” Curtis glanced at him. “You’ve got the wrong picture. She’s not the kind of woman who leans on a man to survive. I didn’t build a wall around her. I gave her wings. And sometimes, all it takes to break the ceiling is a pair of wings.”
Justin stayed silent.
He’d never really known Adriana. The version he saw was sweet, fragile, and always trailing behind Curtis.
Everyone else underestimated her too. Even the ones pulling strings behind the scenes barely noticed her.
