For now, though, Adriana had truly caught Justin’s attention.
At least this future “heiress” wasn’t a useless fool.

But what about Denton? Could he really beat two smart schemers like Ernest and Savannah?
Curtis only smiled and told Justin to keep watching closely.
Years ago, when Harold died and Lincoln Group was being cleaned up, Denton had already surprised Curtis.
If the boy kept walking the right path, his future had no limits.
The fear was that one wrong step could lead to another. One mistake, and the rest could all f: apart.
At the airport.
After Adriana settled everything back home, she flew to Harborton with Yolanda.
Yolanda planned to return to Harborton to spend some time with her parents. Adriana also planned to go back. In the name of honoring Curtis and Harold, she planned to visit her birth parents.
Curtis’s “grave” was in Harborton, right next to Harold’s. The burial site sat on a peaceful hillside cemetery, chosen long ago by Harold and Jeremy. No one expected that Jeremy would be the one to bury his own son, daughter–in–law, and wife before himself.
“Adriana!” As soon as Adriana and Yolanda entered the airport terminal, someone shouted her
name.
Adriana frowned. She would recognize that voice anywhere.
It was Mia.
Heh. Looks like the Langfords let her slip out by accident.
Yolanda’s eyes sharpened at once, full of warning.
Adriana turned, took off her sunglasses, and watched Mia rush toward them. She looked the

same as ever–the bossy girl from college.
Only now, their places had completely changed.

“Adriana, you bitch! You set me up and sent me to prison. I’ll kill you today!” Using her excus of being mentally ill, Mia had been pushed to run away from the Langford Estate. She pulled sharp hairpin from her hair and charged at Adriana.
But she never got close. In seconds, Adriana’s bodyguards forced her flat onto the ground.
It was almost funny. Irene and Gary had given Adriana two personal bodyguards, both forme special forces soldiers. Any small movement around them would never escape their eyes. Mi: was no threat at all.
Slamming into the floor left her dizzy, but she still glared up at Adriana. “Adriana!”
“Stupid.” Adriana looked down coldly. “Your brother must’ve gotten your share of intellect toc
Compared to Matthew, Mia was truly foolish.
“You’re being used and don’t even realize it. Mia, how long do you plan to stay this dumb? Th person behind you knew I had bodyguards. They knew there were cameras everywhere. Yet they still pushed you out front. Do they want to lock you away forever–in a psychiatric hospital or a prison?” Adriana crouched down and spoke slowly, planting doubt in Mia’s mind “Mia, didn’t our fight end when you went to prison?”
Mia froze. The words finally sank in, and she was thinking.
Yes. She had finally gotten out of prison, so why did she make a scene in a crowded airport? She really could be locked away in a psychiatric hospital forever.
Fear washed over her. She swallowed hard and no longer dared to act tough.
It was Natasha. Natasha had whispered in her ear for days. She had also distracted the housekeeper, letting Mia escape successfully,
Adriana said, “Don’t be so foolish. If others use you like a weapon, what do you gain?” She lifted Mia’s chin, pushed her face aside, and stood up.
Outside the airport, Matthew rushed in with his people, clearly shaken.
“Adriana…” He was breathing hard, like he had run all the way.
Adriana had already guessed that since Mia was out of prison and banned from leaving the country, she wouldn’t miss one last chance before she left Haldoria. That was why she warned

Still, Mia had slipped away.
Adriana said calmly, “Matthew, for your sake, I didn’t hurt your sister. But find out who let her
and who told her to attack me. They aren’t only after me. They’re trying to ruin your escape family too.” She told him to deal with this matter properly.
Otherwise, at this critical moment, if news like this spread again, the Langfords would be done for.
After all, they hadn’t even fully recovered from their last scandal.
Raymond stepping down in shame was only the beginning. Mia rushing into trouble again was pure foolishness.
“Adriana, I’ll take care of it. I’m sorry you were frightened. Go to Pastalia first. I’ll come to you as soon as I can,” Matthew said gently, trying to comfort her.
He still thought Adriana was the old Adriana who needed his protection. But that was no longer true. When danger appeared, there wasn’t even a trace of fear in her eyes.
