“Matthew… It was Natasha. Natasha pushed me and told me to run outside,” Mia cried as she stared at Matthew. She was shaking with fear that he would lock her in a psychiatric hospital.
Matthew said in a cold, quiet voice, “Didn’t I tell you already? If you sneak out again, I will ser you to a psychiatric hospital. Mia, you are shockingly foolish. Our family is already buried in public scandal, and you rushed out to make it even worse!”
Anger rushed through him, making his chest rise and fall fast. He truly wished he did not hav such a foolish sister:
“Matthew…” Mia collapsed onto the floor, crying as she grabbed his pant leg. “Please don’t sen me to a psychiatric hospital. I don’t want to go. I’m your sister. Please don’t treat me this way.”
“If you make a mistake, you pay the price,” Matthew said, pulling his leg away without mercy. “Psychiatric hospital or prison–choose one. Take her away!”
Mia screamed and cried as the Langfords‘ staff dragged her away.
Matthew rubbed his forehead and glared at Peter. “Natasha keeps pushing Mia to hurt others. She keeps using her to damage the Langfords, and she thinks she can leave without punishment? I already gave her many chances. She caused her own downfall.”
Peter looked at him nervously.
Matthew said sharply, “Tell the Joneses this. If they want to stay in Haldoria, they must deal with Natasha themselves. I want an answer that satisfies me.”
Peter nodded and rushed away.
Matthew turned and looked at Adriana, who was already far off. His eyes were filled with mixed feelings.
The young girl he once had to protect had grown wings. Now she could fly on her own.
In the past, he believed love meant keeping someone close and safe, making sure she belonged only to him.
But Curtis had shown him the truth. To truly love someone was to give her wings–and let her fly freely.

Harborton.
Before traveling to Pastalia, Adriana had a layover in Harborton.
Yolanda went back to her parents‘ home, while Adriana, guarded by bodyguards, walked 1 “graves” of Curtis and Harold.
The gravestones were clean and bright. Fresh flowers had been placed there before the ol ones could even dry up.
It was clear that someone had taken great care of the place.
That person was Ernest Feron, the Lincolns‘ butler.
He looked much older than before. As he was about to leave, he happened to meet Adrian
“Adriana, are you here to visit Curtis?” Ernest asked. His rough voice sounded tired, as if sadness had worn him down.
“Yes, Ernest,” Adriana said gently.
Ernest nodded, acting calm and kind. “Stay with Curtis for a while. I’ll head back to the Linc Estate and cook for you. Adriana, come home for dinner later…”
Adriana nodded and watched him walk away. The sadness in her eyes faded, replaced by a c look.
Natasha had already started making moves against Denton. Could Ernest truly know nothing Or had Natasha, during all those years overseas, been secretly controlling rich young heirs- using secrets and pressure to control them, draining money from them, and turning them in obedient tools? (2
A woman who was that cruel and calculating–could Ernest really have noticed nothing?
Curtis had faked his death. In the morgue, he even risked lying there himself, pretending to b a corpse, freezing his body until it was ice–cold–just to look more real. Why go that far? To fool everyone. Because he did not trust Ernest.
“Ms. Xander, are we going back to the Lincoln Estate later?” a bodyguard asked softly.
Adriana lowered her voice. “Yes. Why wouldn’t we go
back?”
She planned to go back and face Ernest properly.

Her
eyes
moved to Harold’s and Curtis’s gravestones.
She stepped forward, gently touched Curtis’s photo, and whispered, “Don’t worry. When I return, I’ll be your sharpest blade, not your weakness.”
She looked around to make sure no one else was in the cemetery. Then she walked toward the Bartons‘ graves nearby.
Gilbert Barton and his wife’s gravestones stood side by side. Their gravestones showed their best photos from their younger days.
Adriana stood still, not daring to step closer. She looked at the two photos and slowly put on her glasses.
Even her tears had to stay hidden.
So these are my parents? The woman in the photo smiled gently and with grace, clearly raised in a fine family.
Her eyes looked just like Adriana’s, though Adriana resembled her father more overall. If you looked closely, you could see it–young Gilbert looked almost exactly like Adriana. “Dad… Mom…” Adriana whispered, her voice hoarse.
She promised herself she would find the people who killed them.
She would make sure they paid the price they deserved.
Her eyes slowly moved to another grave nearby. It belonged to Jeremy’s beloved wife, Adriana’s grandmother.
