The old man’s clouded eyes eased a little. He gave the slightest nod, signaling Justin to go.

Justin patted Jeremy’s shoulder with quiet respect, and the old man finally let his eyes drift shut, slipping into a deeper sleep.

Illness had stripped him thread by thread. Now, he was little more than a fragile husk, skin and bone clinging to a hospital gown.

“Take good care of him,” Justin told the staff before turning and walking out of the Barton Estate.

Savannah’s car was parked right outside the gates.

come?”

Savannah’s lips curved. She wasn’t in any rush. If Justin had agreed too fast, that would’ve been suspicious.

In the end, Justin did not show up at her birthday party.

Danielle lounged in the main seat at the banquet, smirking. “Didn’t you say Justin was coming? Looks like your clout isn’t worth that much after all.”

Danielle was in a ridiculously good mood. She’d always considered herself above Savannah, and every time Savannah brought up Justin in front of her, it made her irrationally annoyed.
