Danielle’s smile turned icy. She had always been jealous of Nicole, but with Nicole still “missing,” what she envied was just a title.

Savannah was different. She was just the housekeeper’s daughter. What right did a girl like that have to even think about a man as untouchable and self–contained as Justin? It was laughable.

Savannah’s expression wasn’t great either. Yes, she and Danielle were in cahoots, and she knew very well that she owed some of her current status to Danielle’s help. But that didn’t mean she could stand Danielle’s constant air of superiority. At the end of the day, Danielle was still the bastard’s daughter–the one who would never touch the real inheritance.

As Danielle was still quietly savoring her own sense of triumph, the private room door swung open. A dozen people filed in, arms full of flowers, a giant birthday cake, and limited–edition luxury bags and boxes.

“Ms. Feron,” one of them said with a polite smile, “Mr. Hotchner asked us to come celebrate your birthday. These are all from him. He couldn’t make it in person, but he insisted the gifts arrive on time.”

Savannah shot to her feet, wide–eyed, staring at the gifts that were being set down in front of her–every single one was a bag, piece of jewelry, or pair of shoes she’d mentioned liking before.

She stepped forward and hugged the bouquet, her cheeks flushing pink.

A man who is that attentive and romantic–who could possibly withstand that?

“Oh my God, Savannah, you’ve got something going on, huh? From Mr. Hotchner of Barton Group? He’s insanely handsome.”

“I heard he’s super cold and never smiles at any woman. You’re the first one he’s ever gone to this kind of trouble for. Looks like you two are about to be official.”

Her friends circled, teasing and squealing. Savannah clutched the flowers, then glanced over at Danielle, the corners of her lips tipping up in a proud little smirk.

With that, she turned and walked away.

Savannah sat there hugging her flowers, basking in the glow, and happily texted Justin. “Justin, thank you for the gifts. I love them.”

Ten minutes later, his reply popped up. “As long as you like them.”

That was more than enough to send Savannah floating. She lounged back on the sofa, smug and content.

Once she officially locked down control of Lincoln Group, she’d join forces with Justin–and when that day came, she’d see who in the business world dared look down on them again because of their backgrounds.

“Savannah, that thing you asked me to look into–I’ve got something,” one of her lackeys said, leaning down to whisper near her ear. “Your father really does have a woman and a son out there…”

He pulled out his phone and tapped open a set of photos–her father with a woman and a boy.

On the screen was a gentle–faced woman holding a boy who looked six or seven at most.

Savannah’s face went instantly cold, her hands clenching tight.

So, from the very day Harold had sponsored her to go off to school, her dear father had been out there, shamelessly starting a new family with some younger woman.

Ha. And she’d actually thought he was just a small–minded coward with no ambition.

Turned out he’d been calculating all along. The reason he’d snatched Lincoln Group’s day–to- day power out of her hands … was to prepare a throne for that future son of his. No wonder a man his age suddenly “found the drive” to work again.

Denton and Yolanda had slipped out of the estate to “get some air” and ended up playing around town until late. By the time they tried to find a room, tourist season meant every nearby hotel was booked solid. Except for one last room.

Which was how an entirely unmarried man and woman … ended up sharing a single hotel room. Denton lay on one side of the bed, so close to the edge he was practically hovering in space, body stiff as a board. One more inch and he’d crash to the floor.

Yolanda, on the other hand, looked perfectly at ease. She glanced over at him, clinging to the mattress like it was a cliff. “Kid, are you practicing some kind of martial art? A third of your body’s hanging off.”

She almost burst out laughing.

Yolanda turned on her side to look at him and actually laughed. “Fine. Twenty–year–old big boy. Time for bed.”

Exhaustion hit her all at once, and within minutes, she was fast asleep.
