Since Silas and Mister suspected that Curtis might still be alive, Adriana simply admitted it openly. “Maybe… Who knows? The reason I’ve been able to make it this far so smoothly–maybe he really isn’t dead. Maybe he’s been watching over me from the shadows all this time…”

Adriana murmured, like so many people deeply in love who, after losing someone, begin to imagine they’re still there.

Silas looked at her with a hint of apology. “I’m sorry… If it were at all possible, I’d hope Curtis was still alive too…”

The two of them fell silent. They wandered around Harborpoint for a while, giving the paparazzi plenty of angles to snap photos.

“Mister has been urging me to arrange a marriage with you. I’m grateful you were willing to come out for a walk with me tonight,” Silas said politely as he stepped forward and opened the car door for Adriana.

“In return, can I ask for a favor?” Adriana smiled at Silas.

She hadn’t come out into the night breeze for nothing.

“As long as it’s something I can do,” Silas replied with a smile.

As long as it didn’t involve revealing information about Mister, he was willing to help Adriana to the best of his ability.

“You’re pretty familiar with Julian from Skyridge Materials, right?” Adriana looked at Silas.

Silas didn’t seem surprised at all. It was as if he had already guessed.

“Julian is a close friend of Chandler’s. He’s also an illegitimate son. He’s a bit eccentric, but extremely capable. The reason he gets along with Chandler and me is that his family once rejected him. Growing up as an illegitimate son, he faced a lot of prejudice. After he took control of the Bartons, he became especially close to Chandler since they share the same background,” Silas said frankly. Adriana wanted to use his introduction to break the subtle cooperation between Chandler and Julian. But that would be difficult.

Early in the morning, Susan got up to supervise things. When she saw Danielle already busy in the kitchen, a smug smile curled on her lips.

She was staying in the main guest bedroom of Justin’s house, treated like an honored guest. Meanwhile, Danielle had been casually shoved into a small servant’s room.

Danielle prepared breakfast in the kitchen and placed the plates on the table. She looked at Susan, who was smiling smugly. “Breakfast is ready.”

“Wow, it’s all my favorite food,” Susan said happily as she looked toward Justin, who had just come out wearing casual sleepwear.

His face was as cold and distant as ever. He glanced at the breakfast on the table and frowned. “Where’s Betty? Cooking isn’t something Ms. Barton needs to do herself.”

“I know what you like to eat. The ingredients are fresh–I asked Betty to let me cook. Just think of this meal as my way of saying thank you,” Danielle said, taking a deep breath as if she had finally made up her mind.

Susan happily pulled Justin down to sit and pushed a glass of milk in front of him. “Justin, go ahead and drink it. It’s Danielle’s kind gesture.”

Justin didn’t look pleased. He didn’t bother touching it.

“There’s no poison in the food or the milk,” Danielle said after another deep breath. Then she looked at Susan. “And she isn’t the Susan you’ve been looking for. Savannah and I deliberately found and placed her by your side. Savannah wanted her to get pregnant with your child.”

Danielle placed the medicine Susan had given her last night onto the table, then turned and walked away.

Now that Justin knew the truth, he definitely wouldn’t care about her anymore. And she didn’t want to keep living a life controlled and manipulated by others anymore.

At worst, she would just die.

She had already lived long enough.
