“This man is extremely cautious. He never contacts me alone. He knows I’m only a bargaining chip in Chandler’s hands. But I once overheard him speaking with Chandler. He told Chandler to prepare the ground for Silas in Haldoria and Harborton ahead of time, and he also mentioned one more thing…” Danielle frowned as she searched her memory. “Chandler asked him if he truly planned to keep Silas and whether he wasn’t worried about inviting trouble instead. Mister replied that Silas still carried the Harrisons‘ blood, and he would leave Silas a path to survive.”
Adriana pressed her fingers against her temples.
She already understood that Danielle could never have met Mister face to face. With Chandler around, Mister would never see Danielle privately. She was nothing more than a pitiful pawn.
But if Danielle’s words today were true, they still carried value.
Silas was Harrisons‘ blood. For Samuel’s sake, he would leave Silas a way out…
Who would care so much about protecting the Harrisons‘ reputation?
“Danielle, you came here to tell me this because you want my help?” Adriana asked carefully as she studied her.
Danielle was difficult to trust, and Adriana knew that well. “How do I know you didn’t make this story up?”
Danielle’s nails dug into her palm. “I know you won’t believe me. I didn’t come here today to beg you to take me in or rescue me. I only wanted you to know the truth. That’s all.”
She inhaled slowly. She lifted her chin high, still looking like the proud Barton heiress. Her pride remained sharp and rigid as glass, holding together the last piece of dignity she had left.
She tightened her fists, threw the words down, and turned to leave.
Her eyes burned. Danielle knew Justin would not believe her. Adriana certainly would not either.
Believe it or not, it didn’t matter. She had already revealed everything she knew.
“Where are you going? Chandler and Mister won’t let you leave freely. You know too many of their secrets.” Adriana frowned but still asked.
“Not your concern.” Danielle did not look back and walked straight toward the elevators.
Adriana did not bother stopping her. Her mind was tangled with the things Danielle had just said.
Silas… Harrisons‘ blood. Samuel’s face.
Trouble…
From those words, Mister clearly belonged to the Harrisons.
Adriana’s mind went blank for a moment. Her breathing quickened.
One of the Harrisons.
The Harrisons… that was Curtis‘ mother’s family.

If Mister was truly part of the Harrisons, then all these years of plotting against the Lincolns, pushing Curtis‘ mother toward despair, and nearly killing Curtis more than once… had it all come from his own relatives?
Adriana felt her fingers grow numb. Now the question was not only whether Danielle told the truth. Even worse… Mister’s identity might be something Curtis could never accept.
No wonder Curtis had searched for years and still found no trace of this mysterious Mister.
One could guard against everything, yet never guard against a thief from inside one’s own house.
“Kenneth…” Adriana looked at Kenneth returning after escorting Danielle out. Her voice trembled slightly. “Right now, investigate the Harrisons‘ connections for me. Besides Silas, Gary, and Curtis‘ grandfather Cedric, who else belongs to that family?”
Kenneth noticed how pale she looked and nodded. “Understood. I’ll handle it.”
“Also send someone to follow Danielle. She boldly came to Barton Group to see me today. Chandler and Mister won’t leave her alive.” Adriana thought about Danielle and ordered Kenneth to assign people to watch her.
Danielle’s value was greater than this. If she truly turned against them and stepped into the light, she could become the best leverage against Chandler.
Kenneth nodded and quickly left.
Sitting on the couch, Adriana’s thoughts were chaotic. She did not know if she should tell Curtis.
Because she was still unsure whether Danielle had spoken the truth.
Given Danielle’s past behavior, trusting her was extremely difficult.
After hesitating for a long time, Adriana finally decided to tell Curtis anyway. Even if Danielle had come to mislead her deliberately, she believed Curtis would stay calm and judge it rationally.
Ainsworth Group.
Curtis quietly handled company affairs at Ainsworth while also keeping a close watch on Silas, worried he might take advantage of the situation and steal his Honey. “Do you have people watching Silas closely?”
