Chapter 320 Another Side of the Story

The call connected instantly. The moment Nella hit dial, the line picked up.

“Nella? What do you need?” Alfred’s voice came through the speaker, cautious and almost apologetic.

Nella had already put the call on speaker. That sheepish tone echoed across the open air for everyone to hear.

Zoey heard it too. Her twisted expression turned pale in an instant.

“Zoey said she saw me checking into a hotel with another man. Since she’s so sure, why don’t you walk everyone through the details of what she saw? My classmates are all here. They’re dying to know.”

Right after Nella said that, a loud thud came through the phone.

A second later, there was the sound of a chair scraping the floor. Alfred’s voice came back sharp and rushed.

“Nella, don’t believe a word out of Zoey’s mouth. She’s making it up.”

Nella

gave Zoey one look. That face had lost all color. Not a drop of blood left.

Nella let out a small chuckle. “Exactly. It’s a lie. So explain why she said you got mad over me cheating, and that’s why you went after her family’s company. She told me their bankruptcy was my fault.”

She sounded amused. Like none of this had anything to do with her.

She wasn’t the victim here. She was just watching the whole thing unfold.

The phone went silent.

Even though they were all standing outside, the pause on Alfred’s end sucked the air right out of the courtyard.

Not a single person moved. No one even dared to breathe. The mood turned heavy. Sharp. Cold.

Zoey looked like she was going to collapse.

Her legs wobbled beneath her, and she stared at Nella in disbelief.

She never thought Nella would actually confront Alfred directly.

And not in private. Right here. In public. With a crowd.

How could she have no shame at all? Why wasn’t she scared of being humiliated?

Zoey’s chest tightened. Her fear grew with

every

second.

She opened her mouth, struggling to think of a way to fix it, but before she could say anything, Alfred’s voice came through again.

That soft tone from before was gone. Now, his voice sounded ice cold.

“She’s right there with you?”

Nella gave a quiet “yeah.”

“Put me on speaker.”

Alfred’s voice wasn’t raised, but everyone could feel it. He was one second away from losing it.

“It’s on.”

Nella looked at the terrified Zoey and raised a brow.
