The live feed from the operating room played clearly in the observation room.

On the screen, Nella’s movements were smooth and precise, without a trace of hesitation or
pause.
Sounds from the operating room continued to filter through.
Standing nearby was Logan Pierce from the cardiac surgery department. Seeing Alfred watch the
surgery with a serious expression, Logan assumed he was worried about the patient and spoke up.
“Mr. Keywood, please don’t worry. Dr. Milo may be young, but her skills in cardiac surgery are top tier. This operation won’t be a problem.”
Hearing Logan praise Nella so highly, Alfred curved his lips slightly, a clear look of pride on his face.
“Yes. She’s my wife. I know her abilities.”
Whether he truly meant it or was simply showing confidence, Zoey could clearly hear the pleasure and admiration in Alfred’s tone.
Logan, however, froze for a moment in surprise.
“Oh… Dr. Milo is already married? And to you, Mr. Keywood? That’s incredible. She’s really low- key. We never heard her mention that you’re her husband.”
Logan laughed heartily.
What he did not realize was that the moment he said she had never mentioned her husband, Alfred’s expression darkened slightly.
Alfred turned to look at him, paused for two seconds, then asked, “She never mentioned it?”
Logan’s smile stiffened. Sensing Alfred’s displeasure, he quickly tried to recover.
“Well …
maybe Dr. Milo just didn’t want to be too high profile. Your status is special, Mr. Keywood. She might’ve worried it would bring her unnecessary trouble.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Logan realized it would have been better not to explain
at all.
Alfred’s expression only grew colder.

Damn it. Why did I talk so much.
Logan cursed himself silently.
“Heh.”

Alfred let out a short, cold laugh. “Seems my role as her husband is something she doesn’t want to show off.”
The tone was sharp, heavy with sarcasm.
Logan glanced at Alfred’s face and stayed silent. He did not dare say another word.
Zoey, however, caught the change in Alfred’s mood.
Was Alfred angry because Nella had never told anyone he was her husband?
Did he really want to be known as Nella’s husband so badly, even to the point of making it public?
Zoey’s face darkened visibly.
She could no longer maintain the innocent, gentle look she usually wore in front of Alfred.
