“When did Alfred wake up? How come I never heard you mention it?”
Jasmine was also shocked when she saw the trending news.

She knew that over the past few months, Nella had never mentioned a single word about Alfred in front of
anyone.
It was as if, after their divorce, the two of them truly had no intersection at all.
Although divorced couples were supposed to be strangers for the rest of their lives, Alfred had ended up like that because he saved her.
Jasmine knew that Nella wasn’t actually as indifferent as she acted.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have specially applied to study at the Neurosurgery Research Institute in
Darvonia.
Wasn’t it all just to find a way to make Alfred wake up?
Jasmine’s words snapped Nella out of her daze.
In a dry voice, she answered, “I just found out myself.”
She pointed at the trending news on her phone as she replied.
Jasmine froze, and when she looked at Nella again, there was a hint of complicated emotion in her eyes.
“No one from the Keywoods informed you at all?” Jasmine asked, her voice sounding a bit angry.
After a brief pause, Nella smiled casually and said, “We’re divorced, after all. There really isn’t any need to notify me.”
“That may be true, but between you two-”
“Forget it. As long as he’s awake, that’s enough.” Nella cut her off with a smile, acting like she didn’t care at all.
“There’s a surgery coming up. I’ll head over first.”
Before Jasmine could say anything, Nella turned and left.
As she turned away, the smile on her face slowly faded.
It had been five days. Why hadn’t anyone told her that Alfred had already woken up?
She even found out later than the news.
Was it because…
She was the one who caused Alfred to end up like that, so the Keywoods still blamed her in the end?

Or…
Was this Alfred’s decision?
Even though she had many questions, she was truly happy in her heart to know he was awake.
The heavy burden that had been pressing on her all this time finally loosened.
After work that day, Nella still went to the Everwell Medical Center.
She heard from the nurse that he had gone to the rehabilitation center.
When she arrived, she saw that familiar figure in the rehabilitation room from a distance.
Because the tissue on his back had died, he had undergone a major skin graft surgery. He needed rehabilitation exercises to regain the use of his back.
She stood outside the room. Through the large windows, she could clearly see the man struggling with his training.
