Jasper gazed into Remy's frosty eyes. "What about you? How did you end up following Justin?"

Remy's eyes were dark, like a bottomless abyss devoid of light. "To be frank, I have no idea."

Jasper frowned. "You don't?"

"When I came to, I was lying in a special ward. It didn't look like a hospital ward—more like a regular room with a really nice ambience. I couldn't move a muscle. My entire body was connected to tubes, and I was in so much pain that it felt as if all the bones in my body had been shattered and reconstructed…"

Remy thought back to the ward that was filled with sunlight—the place where he first met Justin. The lake outside the window was as clear as glass, and he could see the shadows of trees swaying back and forth.

Justin sat in his wheelchair by the window, backlit by the sun. He greeted Remy warmly. "Wonderful. You're finally awake. All that hard work wasn't wasted."

Over the next six months, Justin visited him almost daily. He talked with him, brought him delicious meals, and accompanied him during his physiotherapy sessions.

Gradually, Remy came to trust Justin and Justin alone. His gratitude grew so overwhelming that he eventually became a useful weapon to Justin—someone who obeyed his every command.

Jasper continued calmly, "I believe you've tried to investigate these things yourself many times, haven't you?"

Slowly, Remy clenched his scarred hands into trembling fists on his knees. Indeed, he had investigated it many times. Yet hearing the truth from Jasper himself struck him differently. The emotions surging within him now were unlike anything he had felt before.

Jasper's eyes softened slightly as he placed a hand on Remy's shoulder and gave it a firm pat. "You have been through so much, wandering out there for so many years. You must be exhausted. Whatever it is, welcome home."
