Kate was ecstatic. After hearing the noises last night, she had felt a little embarrassed and put on her headphones. This morning, both of them were gone, but she had received a message from Darren asking her to look after Hanley.

It seemed they had gone off to spend some time alone.

"Did my mom and dad leave together? Are they getting back together?"

"Yes, from what I heard last night, I'm sure of it. So don't you worry. Your parents are reconciling. You just rest and get better here."

Hanley felt a surge of triumph. He knew his mother would choose him and his father in the end. This would make Lucas furious!

The thought of Lucas's enraged face was too exciting to just lie here.

"How can I rest now? This is great news! I have to share it with someone."

"Who are you going to share it with?"

"I'm going to share it with my friends at school," Hanley declared proudly.

"You want to go to school?"

"Yes. Arrange for me to go to school right now."

"But you're still sick."

"I'm fine. Just thinking about going to school makes me feel energized and happy. Go make the arrangements. Send me to school."

Hanley's pride swelled. He was going to march into that classroom and show off to Lucas. More importantly, he was going to make Lucas's blood boil.

They all remembered how Hanley used to belittle his mother, calling her a useless housewife. In all the time they'd been classmates, they had never seen his mother at school; he always brought his 'auntie' Marie instead.

Hanley was always bragging about how amazing his auntie was, the heiress to the Ward Group, and how their family would be full of CEOs. He never even tried to hide his contempt for his own mother.

Now that everyone knew how exceptional his mother was, they wondered how much he regretted it.

But thinking about the hurt Hanley had caused his mother, they found they didn't like him anymore.

Normally, a cough from Hanley would have drawn everyone's attention. Now, they saw him but deliberately ignored him.
