The guards looked at each other, unsure whose orders to follow.
Marie turned to Darren. "If you still want the Ward Group's backing, you'd better stay out of this."
In the past, Marie might have pretended to be gentle, but now that she saw everyone still treated Natalie with respect, she was determined to make it clear to them all that Natalie was nothing more than a stray dog kicked out of the Cross family.
Darren stared at Marie, his eyes dark.
"Are you threatening me?" She wasn't threatening him, she was doing this for his mother. "Natalie's prescription must have been toxic. Mom's hands are shaking uncontrollably now. Natalie must have tampered with the original formula and poisoned her. We're just trying to get the antidote from her."
Victoria immediately chimed in. "Darren, after she left, I kept taking the medicine from the prescription she left behind. I thought she was being kind, but I never imagined she would poison me. My hands won't stop shaking, and the doctors Marie found can't do anything. The poison must be too potent for other doctors to detect. She delivered herself to our doorstep today. If we don't get the antidote, your mother will be left to die."
"My daughter would never poison you! You're lying!" Kate yelled, then pointed at Darren. "Darren, so you've finally decided to show your face. Didn't you say you would get back together with my daughter? Why are you marrying that woman now? That woman is your sister-in-law! Didn't you tell me you only respected her, that you were just looking after your late brother's widow? You said you were just protecting her from being bullied in this house, a widow with no husband or children, that you only had respect for her as your sister-in-law. But now you're marrying her! Are you just playing us for fools?"
Kate was absolutely furious. Darren's expression darkened.
How could the things he told Kate be false? He had been sincere about wanting to reconcile with Natalie. But what about Natalie?
How had she treated him?
Darren's gaze turned frigid. He suddenly pulled Marie into his arms. "She and I were childhood sweethearts. We've always had deep feelings for each other. That we could find our way back to each other after all this time is fate."
Darren's words were a pleasant surprise to Marie. After all these years, he was finally willing to acknowledge his feelings for her.
He had finally forgiven her for choosing his older brother over him all those years ago.
Darren held Marie close. He couldn't lose the support of the Ward Group, and he also wanted to see if Natalie could truly remain unmoved when she saw him being intimate with Marie.
Natalie had thought she was over Darren and Marie, but when she heard him call Marie his childhood sweetheart, destined to be together, her heart still ached.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
