Mrs. Lockwood rolled her eyes so hard she thought they'd get stuck. How could someone be so disgusting?
If they felt so blessed, couldn't they just stay home and be grateful? Did they really need to call a press conference to sing the praises of her daughter-in-law? Who did she think she was?
Marie, standing beside her, said smugly, "A mother-in-law is a mother, too. You should treat her with the same love and respect you'd give your own mother. After all, respecting your elders is a cornerstone of our nation's values."
A flood of comments appeared on the screen.
[This daughter-in-law is so good to her mother-in-law!]
[There's so much negativity in society these days, always painting daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law as enemies. Marie is such a breath of fresh air.]
[No wonder her mother-in-law likes her so much. She's amazing.]
Mrs. Lockwood was about to have a stroke herself. She quickly turned off the comments, wanting to live a long life without dying of anger.
Victoria took Marie’s hand. "Having a daughter-in-law like you brings me so much joy. Not like some people who pretend to be innocent and kind but abandon you when you're in danger. I just hope that hypocrite stays far, far away from the Cross family!"
Mrs. Lockwood realized she was taking a jab at Natalie, and she wasn't going to stand for it.
She immediately picked up her phone to hire some online trolls to attack them.
The host exclaimed, "Wow, that sounds like an incredibly grand wedding!"
Victoria said proudly, "A wedding for my precious daughter-in-law has to be of the highest standard. And to celebrate their marriage, I am donating five hundred thousand dollars each to the senior centers in my ancestral region of Ravenswood, Lotus Creek, and Willowmere."
The host was stunned. "Wow, you're even donating to the senior centers back in your hometown! That's so generous. Why three villages? Are the neighboring villages getting to share in the good fortune as well? That's wonderful."
"I just want to give back to the people from my hometown."
Victoria's answer was evasive because their own village wasn't one of the three. These were three neighboring villages. She deliberately excluded her own village's senior center from the donations. She wanted the people back home to know that if the family elders hadn't sided against them and had them disowned, that money would have gone to them. She wanted to stir up conflict, to make those who wanted the money blame the ones who had caused trouble for her.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
