Marie said angrily, “Natalie, it must have been you! You told him to throw the ring away! You just don’t want me to marry Darren. Let me tell you, your little schemes are useless. Even without a wedding ring, I’ll still be Darren’s wife.”
Nicholas drawled, “You hit his son right in front of him. Are you sure he’s still going to see you as his wife?”
Marie froze. She had been so furious that she’d lost control.
She quickly turned to Darren. “Darren, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I lost control. You know how much that ring means to me, and you know the police are about to take me away. Wearing that ring would have given me the courage to face what’s coming, even if they took me. Now I have nothing.”
Natalie scoffed. Marie was certainly good at playing the victim.
Natalie looked at Darren. “She just hit your son in public. Are you not going to say a single word?”
“Hanley was in the wrong. He shouldn’t have thrown the ring out!”
“Great. Just great parenting. But since you’re using violence against him, I have the right to demand you give up custody.” Natalie turned to the police officers present. “You all saw that. They laid a hand on a child. I want custody of my son back, and you are all witnesses.”
Victoria snapped angrily, “You want to take my grandson? In your dreams.”
Terence glanced at the designer watch on his wrist and addressed the officers. “It’s been fifteen minutes. Are you really going to wait for them to find a ring and finish a ceremony before you wrap this up?”
The police stepped forward again, their expressions stern. “It seems you won’t be finding your ring anytime soon. I’m sorry, but we have limited resources and can’t wait around here. Marie Ward, please come with us.”
Marie was unwilling and tried to struggle.
But Darren said to her, “Just go with them for now. Don’t worry, I’ll get you out.”
Reluctantly, Marie allowed herself to be led away.
“I spent five years as a glorified maid for your entire family at the Cross estate. It’s just three children. Of course I can handle it.”
Natalie’s words made Darren’s blood boil.
So she really wanted to be someone else’s stepmom.
Natalie then held out her hand to Hanley. “Hanley, come with Mommy.”
Marie was brazen enough to harm her own brother. Even though she was in custody now, Natalie didn’t feel safe leaving Hanley with the Cross family.
Terence looked at Hanley, his gaze firm. “Going with your mother is the right choice.”
Nicholas frowned. “Kiddo, your dad’s a lost cause. Is this really a hard choice?”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
