Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 408

Elaine trembled, grabbing her husband’s arm as she broke down. “Richard, tell me, what’s the truth? Mrs. Peterson didn’t steal the necklace, so… what she said was true? Did Marie really kill our son?”

Marie scrambled over to Elaine. “Mom, this is all a trap set by Terence!” she pleaded. “He’s doing this on purpose to destroy me! Mom, Dad, you have to believe me. You have to! I’m your daughter!”

Marie was sobbing hysterically when Mrs. Scott arrived, holding the multi-million-dollar necklace.

“Marie, I’m so sorry,” Mrs. Scott said. “I couldn’t ignore Mr. Lockwood’s request. I can’t keep the necklace any longer. Please remember to transfer me the eight million dollars I paid for it.”

Mrs. Scott’s words made Marie’s desperate cries seem absurd and pathetic.

“You… you… get out of here! I didn’t sell you any necklace! You’re in on this with Terence!”

“Marie, there’s no point in saying that. I still have the transaction records. See? This is your account number, a transfer of eight million dollars. You can’t deny this, can you?”

Mrs. Scott handed the necklace and the bank records to the police.

“This is the necklace Marie sold me, along with the transaction record. You can verify everything. I’ll cooperate fully with the investigation if needed.”

What infuriated him even more was that he had genuinely believed the necklace was lost. The reason he’d told the police that story was because a report had been filed when it first went missing. That would have given their story a factual basis for the investigation. That was why he’d used it to frame Mrs. Peterson.

He had been trying to protect Marie, but he never would have guessed that she’d had the necklace all along, even selling it six months ago. And she still had the audacity to frame Natalie. She had brought this on herself.

He thought back to Natalie kneeling in the villa, and a pang of guilt hit him. All this time, Marie had been tormenting her, finding ways to hurt her, and he had foolishly thought Natalie was just being competitive.

Marie panicked and turned to Darren. “Darren, help me! You’re the only one who can. You can’t give up on me. If you do, the Cross Group will be isolated, an easy target for Terence to crush. You’ve seen how terrifying he is. You can’t abandon me. You can’t beat him alone. Save me!”
