Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 412

"Enough with the superstitious nonsense! We don't even know if there will be a 'from here on out'!"

Darren's words made Victoria's brow furrow even deeper.

"What do you mean, you don't know if there will be a 'from here on out'? What are you talking about?"

"The situation is really bad for Marie. Terence is putting on the pressure, and we have no room to fight back. If she's convicted, Marie could be facing life in prison, or even the death penalty."

Victoria paled, realizing the gravity of the situation.

"Life in prison? The death penalty? How could this be? Is that true?"

"Terence found a witness and evidence. Marie's conviction is practically a sure thing now. The case is already in the judicial system, and sentencing should happen soon."

"Terence found a witness and evidence? So... Marie really did cause her brother's car accident?"

Before, Victoria hadn't cared whether Marie was responsible for her brother's accident.

After all, with him out of the picture, Marie could inherit the Ward Group. It was a good thing.

But now that Marie was in jail, facing at least a life sentence, all the money Victoria had invested in her would be for nothing.

She had spent a fortune on today's wedding!

What a waste!

If the charges stuck, Marie would die in prison. Victoria didn't have that long to wait for her to get out.

"Mom, just stay out of it."

"What do you mean, stay out of it? If Marie goes to prison, what was all our effort for? What about the humiliation we endured? We won't see a single dime from the Ward Group, and the Cross Group could go bankrupt! Do you understand that?"

Victoria was practically fuming. She never imagined things could take such a turn. She had thought that once Marie and Darren were married, the Ward family's fortune would be theirs for the taking.

But then Terence had to come out of nowhere and expose what Marie did to her brother.

All their efforts had gone down the drain. The thought was more painful than death.
