But Natalie just said calmly, "You're right. I'm not kind, and I had no intention of helping you. But you've always been such a proud person. Can you really stand all these people passing by, looking at you like this?"
Natalie's words stabbed into Victoria's heart like a knife. For someone as proud as her, being publicly ridiculed was a fate worse than death.
"Natalie, you jinx! I never should have agreed to let you marry into my family. If I hadn't, we wouldn't be facing this disaster now!"
Victoria was lashing out like a rabid dog.
Natalie remained composed. "From a practical standpoint, during the five years I was with the Cross family, the business thrived and you became wealthier. That would make me a good luck charm. The moment I left, disaster struck. So how could I be the jinx? Doesn't that just further prove... that I was your good luck charm?"
As Natalie spoke calmly, Victoria was left speechless with rage.
Nicholas cheered excitedly, "That's what you get for being clueless! You kicked out your good luck charm, so who else was fate going to crush?"
The two henchmen at the gate felt like standing here was worth it. This was way too interesting.
Victoria said furiously, "Natalie, don't you get too smug. I'm telling you, Hanley will hate you for this. You've destroyed the Cross family. What is he supposed to do when he comes back to this mess? What is he going to do? He was supposed to be the heir to the Cross Group, a man at the top of society, and you've dragged your own child into the mud. A person like you doesn't deserve to be a mother!"
"If Hanley can't be the heir to the Cross Group, it's because his father, Darren, was incompetent and couldn't protect the family business. What does that have to do with me? I'm not the one who ran the company into the ground."
Victoria was so angry she nearly coughed up blood.
Nicholas was on the sidelines, cheering Natalie on. That's the way! Don't let her guilt-trip you!
Just then, Darren returned. He had gotten word that the collectors were at his house and had rushed over to get his mother, only to arrive and find this scene.
"Darren, why don't you ask the two men standing by the gate if they were the ones who pushed her?"
The two henchmen were honest enough.
They said, "Yeah, that's right, we pushed her. We already told this old lady that we're from the collections agency and we're here to repossess the house as per the agreement. We told her to call you if she didn't understand what was going on. But the old lady insisted on barging in and making a scene, and in the scuffle, she got pushed over."
Darren said angrily, "You're here to repossess the house, not assault people! Do you have any idea who we are? We'll sue you!"
"Plenty of people try to sue us. It's fine. We have people who handle that. Go right ahead."
Darren's face darkened.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
