“You think I’m jealous of Miss Everhart?”
Natalie looked at Terence, her long lashes fluttering over her innocent eyes.
“You were staring at Angela just now, and your were frowning heavily.”
Natalie gave an awkward laugh. Her brow had been furrowed because one moment she'd felt a sense of familiarity with Angela, and the next, Angela was claiming Natalie looked just like her.
So that was where the feeling of familiarity came from.
“I was looking at Miss Everhart because she’s very beautiful, so I naturally glanced a few more times. You’re overthinking it, Mr. Lockwood,” Natalie said, a bit awkwardly.
Was he really overthinking it? Couldn’t he just imagine for a moment that she was jealous? Let him be happy for a second.
“You don’t have to pay any mind to what she said. The fact that she resembles you is her good fortune.”
Natalie was speechless. Wasn’t that a bit of a mean thing to say?
“Mr. Lockwood, I think Miss Everhart is a good match for you. She's bright, beautiful, and poised. Besides, powerful families always talk about strategic alliances. Finding someone you can love who also helps your career—isn't that the best of both worlds?”
Though Natalie greedily cherished Terence’s embrace, the better he was, the more she felt she didn’t deserve him. All she wanted was for him to be happy.
Terence had been trying his best to convince himself that Natalie was jealous, but her calm eyes showed no hint of it. And now she was saying Angela was a good match for him?
And to think he was just about to explain everything to her. It seemed pointless now.
“I thought you were jealous. Looks like I was overthinking it.”
Natalie was relieved that Terence hadn't misunderstood, but then he added, “You’re not jealous because you trust me, right? Because I’m such a great guy?”
Terence was annoyed that Natalie wasn’t jealous, but he was doing his best to talk himself into a better mood. If she just said yes, he’d be happy.
“You are a good person, but I don’t see what that has to do with me trusting you or not.”
“Let go of me. You were the one who insisted on getting custody of Hanley during the divorce. It’s ridiculous for you to blame me now.”
“Natalie, I never imagined you were a Ward. I had no idea about your family.”
What Darren meant to say was that she had been wronged, that the world had been so unfair to her.
“Oh, really? If you had known, you would have treated me better, right? So you could get your hands on the Ward family’s fortune?”
Natalie’s words made Darren’s face darken.
“I never wanted to get anything from you. My feelings for you were real.”
“You married me to get back at Marie, didn’t you? You resented her for marrying your older brother. And poor me, I became your tool, leaving me with a black mark on my life that I can never erase.”
“Is being married to me really a black mark on your life? Is it something you’re ashamed to even mention?”

I think Terence must know something isn't right about Angela, that's why he agreed to figure it out....
Marie needs to be gone, she has caused enough trouble for Natalie. This is getting boring!...
This fiasco needs to end. Natalie and Terrance need to be together and in my mind somehow those twins are Natalie’s....
Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
