Angela had orchestrated today's events, with Darren playing a supporting role.
But she hadn't told him she was going to put a poisonous snake in the cave. She had only said that being alone in a cave was a great way for romantic feelings to heat up.
Who would have thought she'd actually add her own twist to the script?
"Wasn't it to let you improvise? Trust me, you’re practically a hero in Natalie's eyes right now."
"Improvise? Are you out of your mind? That little stunt of yours could have gotten someone killed."
"But you're not dead, are you? Besides, with a director as good as me, how could I let an accident happen? Don't worry, I had antivenom prepared long ago. The moment you got to the hospital, you were given the shot, right? And I was timing everything. I absolutely guaranteed I would rescue you before the venom could kill you. My plan was totally foolproof, and I promise you that. I just didn't expect Terence to know you were there. He actually beat me to it."
Angela was puzzled. How did Terence know they were in that cave?
Darren looked at Angela, who showed not a hint of remorse. She had treated him like nothing more than a pawn in her script.
This woman wasn’t just reckless and stupid; she was completely heartless.
"I never should have listened to your crazy ideas and played along with this act! Let's not work together anymore."
Angela grew anxious. "Why are you so angry? Is it because I didn't tell you I put a poisonous snake in there? If I had told you, you definitely wouldn't have let Natalie take that risk. As they say, no guts, no glory. You risked your life to save Natalie, she must be incredibly moved!"
Moved? He was almost permanently immobilized, as in dead.
"I knew I shouldn't have worked with you. Your brain isn't wired right."
"Are you telling me it had no effect at all? I saw that hickey on Natalie's neck. Are you saying that kiss wasn't worth a little snakebite?"
Darren had been furious, but Angela's words somehow managed to diffuse his anger.
Thinking about the feeling of kissing Natalie, he suddenly found himself appeased.
"Do you really think so? That's what I was thinking too. She was crying back there… for me. She shed tears for me."
As he said the last sentence, Darren's grin was wider than he could control.
The man who just moments ago looked completely lethal had suddenly became bashful.
Angela's initial goal was just to calm him down so they could continue working together, but seeing him act so lovesick suddenly annoyed her.
What was so special about Natalie that had these men so utterly captivated they seemed to have lost their minds?
What was so great about her?
"Exactly. She cried for you, which means you've found your way back into her heart. Even though Natalie didn't stay with you, don't lose hope."

Marie needs to be gone, she has caused enough trouble for Natalie. This is getting boring!...
This fiasco needs to end. Natalie and Terrance need to be together and in my mind somehow those twins are Natalie’s....
Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
