Before Angela could finish her threat, the receptionist said calmly, “Ma’am, we have security. If you don’t want to be embarrassed, I suggest you leave now.”
Angela was furious. She was the heiress of the Everhart Group, a beauty queen with millions of fans.
“I’m about to cause a scene,” she declared. “If your general manager doesn’t come out to see me today, I’m going to make a scene!”
Darren hadn’t expected Angela to be so aggressive. He took her by the arm. “Angela, let’s just wait over there for a bit.”
Darren didn't want to see her get dragged out. “He’s obviously avoiding us,” Angela said. “Waiting won’t do any good. We might as well make some noise.”
The receptionist picked up the phone. “Security, someone is causing a disturbance at the front desk. Please have them removed.”
Angela froze. She was actually serious. Darren quickly said, “We can wait here. Perhaps Mr. Foxley will have a change of heart and see us.”
The receptionist said, “You may sit over there, but you cannot cause any more trouble.”
“Fine. We won’t cause any trouble. We’ll just sit here and wait for Mr. Foxley to be available.”
Darren led Angela to a bench in the lobby. “This is outrageous,” Angela fumed. “It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been turned away from anywhere.”
“You should go back to the hotel,” Darren said. “I can wait here by myself.”
Darren had expected this. He knew they wouldn’t get to see Mr. Foxley easily, but he had decided he would just camp out here, no matter how long it took, hoping for a chance to meet him.
But he didn’t want Angela to endure the scornful looks with him.
“Are you planning to camp out here? You’re just going to sit here until he sees you?”
Darren nodded.
“What other choice do we have?”
Angela sighed, equally helpless.
“You should go back to the hotel,” Darren repeated.
“No, I’m staying here with you.”
“Lucas, Liana,” Natalie said gently. “You two need to go wash your hands.”
“Okay,” Lucas replied to Natalie before turning back to Terence. “Daddy, our little medicinal herbs have gotten bigger.”
Terence watched Natalie and the children. This simple, happy life was truly wonderful.
Suddenly, Simon's loud shouting shattered the peace.
“Terence, get out here! Terence, get out here!”
More trouble?
Lucas sighed. “Do these people make it a point to show up right when we’re about to eat? Can’t I just have one peaceful meal?”
Natalie and Terence went outside. Simon glared at Terence. “Terence, what did you say to the president of Aurelius Dominion Group? Why did he cancel the partnership with the Lockwood Group?”
“It’s their prerogative to partner with whomever they choose. Maybe they just took one look at you, decided you weren’t capable, and didn’t want to work with you. Who can you blame for that?”
