The kindergarten teachers and security guard were trying to escort Natalie away when a deep voice cut through the air.
“She is here today representing Lucas, not Hanley.”
Terence’s expression was grim. Even in a wheelchair, he exuded an aura of authority that made it difficult to meet his gaze.
“It’s Terence Lockwood.”
“Mr. Lockwood, you’re here. I’m so sorry you had to make this trip. The other party’s parents insisted on the phone that we ask you to come in.”
“How is my son?”
“Lucas is fine. It’s Hanley who has a minor injury. His parents are very upset.”
“Let’s go see them.”
Terence looked at Natalie, gesturing for her to come with him. The teacher quickly said, “Mr. Lockwood, I didn’t realize you knew Hanley’s mother. But custody of the child now belongs to his father. This matter must be handled with the father; the mother has no authority here.”
Natalie found it laughable. She had no right to be involved in a matter concerning her own son.
Terence said, “Did you not hear me? She is representing Lucas, not Hanley. She is the Lockwood family’s physician. Since the children had a disagreement, I’ve asked her to examine them. Is there a problem with that?”
The children at this school came from wealthy and powerful families. It wasn’t uncommon for parents to bring family doctors, or even lawyers, to resolve disputes.
Besides, the man in front of her was someone she couldn't afford to offend. As long as she had a plausible reason to give the Cross family, it would be fine.
“Of course, Mr. Lockwood.”
Natalie pushed Terence’s wheelchair inside. This was her son’s kindergarten, yet she had never truly set foot in it before.
In the past, she could only drop off and pick up Hanley at the gate. Any school activities were always attended by Marie.
The thought was absurd.
“Are you alright?”
Was he asking her?
“I’m fine.”
He could sense the sadness in her voice.
