They all went upstairs, where they saw a man in a mask kneeling in the center of the room.

He was surrounded by circles of police officers, indicating his importance. When Marie saw the man forced to his knees, hands interlaced behind his scarred head, she felt a wave of despair. This was her accomplice.

He was incredibly capable; otherwise, he couldn’t have hijacked a prison transport to rescue her and arranged for her to be surgically altered to look exactly like Angela.
