They were both just staring at her now for a long minute. “So, there is a mating alliance, that specifically states that then?” Gretta finally asked.
“Mm, it’s quite detailed but has been null and voided now, he has found his Goddess–Gifted, and we are now rejected.”
“Your Alpha Mate, who is he?” Hailey asked with a slight shake of the head.
“Aipha Parker Hartly of the Lustrous Moon. The mating alliance states he only had to be mated to me until he found his Goddess–Gifted, and then can reject me for her. Which is what happened. He brought her into his pack four days ago now.”
“The rejection happened that quick?” Gretta frowned at her. “How many years were you two mated to each other?”
“Eight years I was the Luna, to his pack.” Bella answered her.
“You held the full title and responsibilities then?” Gretta leaned forward and questioned her further.
“Yes, again, that was part of the mating alliance.” Bella nodded. “It’s quite detailed on my role and what was required of me.”
“How did he treat you in those years?” Gretta asked.
“Fine.” She shrugged “I don’t hate the man, if that’s what you want to know. He never laid a harmful hand
on me, barely spoke to me on any given day, nodded to me in passing. Unless he needed me to do
something or wanted something from me. He followed that mating alliance to the letter. Never betrayed
me either. I attended to all the Luna’s duties as he expected me to as well.”
“But rejected you instantly. You two never bonded properly?” Hailey sighed. “Eight years is a long time for a bond not to be formed. Clearly you were in his bed though.” She waved a hand at Bella’s still flat stomach.
“Technically, I rejected him, and he accepted it, and yes, we had sex often.” She shrugged “but no, we never bonded to each other, both just… indifferent to each other, I guess you could say.”
“Wait, wait, wait, go back a step, Alpha Parker not only allowed you to issue a rejection, but he accepted it when you did?” Gretta was frowning now, deeply so, and she knew why most Alphas would be the one to issue a rejection, not his Luna.
“Yes, either of us could issue it. Once he found his Goddess Gifted, we’re both Alpha–blooded. He brought her to his pack, walked her right into the packhouse, where he had asked me to meet him, so I could see her, I suppose, making it clear to me, he wanted to claim her.
“Which meant a rejection could and was going to be issued. It was done in the privacy of his Alpha’s office.” She explained it to them, as she realised they were actively asking her question because they were now investigating her, she thought. Doing what all council members did, trying to dig into the truth. “How long before that rejection was issued? And was his mate in the room to see it?” Hailey asked her. “Hmm, a few minutes, like two or three, and no she was not, he had his Delta take her to get lunch, so it
