Chosen Just To Be Rejected by Jennifer Francis novel Chapter 48

Parker

Now Carina was just stalking about the pack attending to Luna duties that were, from what he could tell, only the bare basics, because that was now apparently all she was there to do, be paid for and nothing more. Though she’d never been paid for that, just had access to unlimited pack funds, as did all Luna’s.

What was his was hers, as she’d once put it, though every time she stated the words ‘my pack‘ he corrected her, and she’d had the hide to scream at him at one point a week ago ‘it is my pack, stop correcting me.’

Which had seen several pack members in the foyer stop and stare at them, to which he’d stated calmly ‘Is it? Did you create it? Did you inherit it from a parent? Do you stay here and look after it as a Luna should when I’m not here? Or do you just up and leave uncaring of who’s in charge of it, when ever you want to. She’d glared right at him, even he’d heard the snorts of amusement come from some of the pack members around them. He’d not bothered to yell at her, there was no need for it, he could put her in her place with a few calmly spoken words, a simple reminder of her abandoning this pack for a modelling job. ‘I had a job to go to.’ she’d retorted and turned to stalk away.

‘Yes, and that comes first in your eyes, doesn’t it? Not the pack… he’d stated casually.

She’d spun on her heels and glared at him, and he’d smiled at her ‘now if you say it’s your pack wouldn’t you stay in the pack if I’m not here to protect it, go off to the subsidiary packs and check on them.‘ he’d challenged her words.

She’d balled her fists at her sides and grated out at him, ‘You’re never here to protect the pack.

‘I’m never here to do that?‘ he raised an eyebrow at her ‘What do I do every day, where did I just come from, where was I yesterday, two days prior to that?‘. He asked her he’d just come from training the warriors, and those days he wasn’t here, they were the days he’d been in other parts of his pack training warriors over there. If he wasn’t inside this, the main part of his pack, he was at the office dealing with the packs‘ human world businesses, or in the other subsidiary packs training the warriors and checking on them or off at mating balls, trying to help his pack members find Mates.

He stood watching her trying to fault him and smiled at her ‘Where were you yesterday? Hmm, three nights ago?’ he asked directly, knew she was off in the human world hanging out with her wealthy human friends.

‘Do you keep track of me, are you spying on me?‘ she’d grated out at him.

‘Well, seeing as you’re questioning my whereabouts, even though you know full well, I was training with the other packs, doing what and Alpha does to help protect the pack, and I know I was not here because I was tending to the running of the pack. Why can’t I ask you the same thing?‘ he’d asked right back.

‘You’re interrogating me in front of pack members, humiliating me on purpose.” She’d yelled at him.

Cham

“Am I? I don’t think so, just doing to you what you do to me, don’t like it, do you? It’s not a nice feeling, is it? As for you not answering my questions, I’ll do it. No, I didn’t have you followed, you were in the society pages with your human friends, out to dinner and dancing away at a nightclub. Nothing to do with the protecting of the pack, just getting your ever present need to be in the spotlight, fix. Is all.”

She’d glared right up at him, and he saw more than anger flash on her face. He wondered right this minute if it was hate there in her eyes, then she’d just screamed at him and turned and stalked away from him in what appeared to be a fury.

He’d simply shaken his head and gone to shower before going to his office to work, to attend pack related things, while she’d been headed outside to do Goddess only knew what, a part of him no longer cared and he knew it. She was his Goddess–Gifted Mate and a part of him didn’t care at all anymore. He was done trying to make it work, and he knew it, eight years with her and though at times she was sweet and caring, and he thought things were finally working out, and their bond seemed to be intact and flourishing, it wasn’t; not really.

He’d never rejected her, because they had very long lives and he was hoping she just needed time to settle down and understand the way things were, but eight and half years, and she was still a spoiled entitled she–wolf, she tried to hide it from him but, seems she no longer could.

Simply cutting off her access to pack funds and questioning her about things showed her true colours. She was only ever happy if he left her alone, to do as she pleased, and never had to answer for anything.

He was curious as to how long it would take her to come crawling into his bed, to try and placate him and bring him around, be all sweet and try to get him to come around to giving her back all the things she wanted but wasn’t getting right this minute, she also liked the sex, liked all the mate bond tingly goodness of it, and could have sex for hours to enjoy that. He wondered if that was all he was to her, sex and unlimited funds at her disposal.

He was not going to go to her. He could hold out in the sex department if he wanted to. She was all aggressive in the bedroom all the time, liked to be on top and ride the hell out of him, she didn’t need to be touched to get off is what she told him. Just liked a good hard fuck, and nothing had changed in the eight and half years they’d been together.
