Chosen Just To Be Rejected by Jennifer Francis novel Chapter 85

Belladonna

She walked Whitney to the packhouse, took the winding path from behind the house they were staying in. She knew it would take a bit longer to get there than the direct route, but she also knew this particular path would go right past a playground and Milly wasn’t willing to be put down at this minute. Wanted to be carried, appeared to be anxious about being in a new place.

It was a playground for the smaller children, more suited to her age than Whit’s, and she was hoping Milly would want to go and play on the swings when she saw it. Bella could already hear that there were other children in the playground.

They came to it and her little girl was looking at it but didn’t itch to be put down. Whit looked at it and stepped right into it. “Look Milly, a fun slide for us to go down together.” He reached out for her with both hands, and she went to him and winked at her. He was being a good big brother, and she could only smile

at him.

There were a few parents here in the park though none she recognized from when she’d lived here all those years ago. But she smiled at them and said hello, saw several of them look at her children and tilt their heads as they looked at Whitney. Likely were picking up who his father was.

She stood and watched as Whit and Milly climbed up the stairs to the top of the slide, and then they were gone down it together, Milly on his lap. Milly laughed “Again Whit.” And off they went to go again. Their sibling bond was good and strong and no one would know they weren’t actually related at all.

She sank down on a seat and just let them run about and play on the other equipment, letting both of them get comfortable here inside the pack. It would be good for both of them and she knew it.

A she–wolf dropped on the seat next to her. “Well now, ain’t you a sight for my sore eyes.”

Bella turned and looked at Annette and smiled at her. “How are you, Annette?” she asked in return.

“Alright! Yourself?” Annette nodded. “Got yourself a family I see?”

“Mm, I do, and I’m good.” She answered, turning her attention back to Whit and Milly, bouncing up and

down on a seesaw.

“Only one is Parker’s, I believe.” Annette smiled. “Got some action out there in the wolfen world.” She

chuckled.

“Mm, that I did.” There had never really been a shortage of it. She’d found most male wolves found her attractive and were interested in that, and she wasn’t a prude, and being that Freya was 100% certain that she didn’t have a mate. She’d thought why not. Freya had also never cared if she hooked up with anyone.

“Where’s your little girl’s dad?” Annette asked curiously.

“She doesn’t have one, it’s just me and Whit that are her family.” Bella stated “But is adorable.” She did love

her little girl, and right now watching her play with Whit, her red curls up in pigtails she was very cute.

Whoever her actual biological parents were had some good genes behind them, she was fair skinned and cute as a button.

“She is,” Annette stated. You here for a visit only? Or do I get the chance to persuade you into sticking around.”

“Whit asked to come and see the pack. It’s kind of up to what he wants right now.” she answered honestly, she wanted her boy to be happy and if that meant moving here to live where he could be near his father and instated as the heir, she wouldn’t deny him that. “I’ll not deny Whit his rights.”

“I don’t think you’ve ever denied anyone anything. Or not in the time I knew you anyway” Annette nodded. ”

I could use you here in the pack. You should come check out the hospital. Parker upgraded it two years

ago. It’s twice the size now.”

“Why?” she asked curiously.

“To accommodate all the new pack members, and he’s instated a new law that all she–wolves come here to have their babies, come a week before their due, and recruited a few new doctors. Though I still badgered him about you always.” Annette’s eyes glazed over, and she stood “Well, I gotta go, come see me and check out the hospital. I think even you’ll be impressed by it.”

Bella nodded and waved her off and called Whit and Milly to her a few minutes later so they could continue on to the packhouse. This path came out near the eastern side of it, and when it came into view she saw Whit kind of just stop and stare at it.

“Wow.He murmured.

“Yes, it’s much larger than Aston and Mala’s” she nodded, even though the packs were roughly the same size. This place had been here longer and grew and expanded with each generation, she supposed, as all packhouse’s did.

This place could house 300 wolves and had lots of greenery. It was built on a slightly slopping block of land. The building itself was white and slightly curved, and each floor of it was a full room width behind

[ the one in front of it, giving the impression it was tiered.

All the rooms had their own balconies with potted greenery and the path they’d been walking on went from concrete to paved as they came to the edge of the packhouse. There were plenty of grassed areas along the front and several families were sitting about or playing with their kids.
