‘Do you remember Landon’s secret den with the dragons he sired? That was only a buildup. That was nothing compared to the real thing, Creed,’ Dale reported the night of his wedding. He glanced outside the window before rolling down the curtains in the library. He ought to be dancing with his bride and yet, as soon as he found a chance, he tactically urged Terrence and Lizbeth to dance while the triple A along with Jacques stood on the buffet with Elianna.

Before Dale and I headed to the library, I caught Alistair and Aramides holding her plates before they finally sat down and she started munching them all while they just stared with fondness in their eyes.

Dale inserted a flash drive into the wide screen, exposing the borders that I was seeing for the first time.

‘I received an anonymous tip from the mages’ realm, he didn’t reveal himself and just said he was a concerned citizen. He originally wanted to contact you, but since you were in Isla El Vera, he contacted me as your beta and wanted me to relay his message to you. I know how busy you are. I didn’t want to report anything to you without proof and so I brought Sir Nick with me to check the place and investigate it myself,’ Dale explained as he linked with me which only happened each time he was reporting something that he only wanted me to hear.

Nick was our resident mage.

‘We couldn’t get inside, obviously. From the borders themselves, both of us sensed their strong mana. It was dark, Creed. Very dark.’ He rubbed his arms. ‘Damn. It’s still giving me goosebumps until now. Who knows what’s inside? It’s like there is a whole realm or a whole world out there that they are keeping from us.”

I didn’t doubt what he saw. Dale could see auras. In fact, he was the one who saw Elianna’s golden aura. The video that he took looked ominous. From there, I could hear his rugged breathing and Nick telling him to get out of there.

‘Sir Nick originally wanted to report it to His Majesty. I stopped him.’

My brows furrowed. ‘Why?’

He scratched his head. ‘I’m working on a case.’

‘Case? I don’t remember assigning you one. So, why am I only hearing about it now?’

He evaded my hand when I was about to smack him on the head although he did not get to escape the pen

that I threw in his direction. It hit the center of his forehead, making him wince.

“That hurts! If I bleed, I’m telling you, you will have your sister to answer to!’

We both grinned for a while.

‘Proceed. I am all ears.

‘Well, it started days before His Majesty’s coronation ceremony. You didn’t know, you were busy back then turning yourself into a mixed breed. I caught him appearing from the shadows. And then I saw some unidentified men trailing behind him, men I’d never seen in the castle before, speaking in a language I didn’t understand until tonight.’

‘Get straight to the damn point, Dale. I have a very pregnant mate to go back to.

Elianna often falls asleep these days. She would sit anywhere, lean onto anyone’s shoulder, and then doze off. Luckily, the only shoulders that were constantly available were mine since she was on my watch night and day. I did not want her leaning onto anyone else, even if she was with her uncles. My beast was possessive as fuck.

Although I had to admit, this new information bothered the hell out of me.

I did not like where this was going.

For decades, Terrence had not given me and Aramides any reason to worry, to question his sincerity and loyalty to the werewolves and to us. He was a very close friend of mine, not to mention Aramides’ family. Even if they were not blood related, he treated Terrence as his own flesh and blood. He was the son of his fated mate whom he swore to cherish and protect on his late wife’s deathbed.

The only time I was royally pissed at the man was when I saw him openly expressing his admiration for my mate. He stopped pissing me off when she got pregnant. That’s why all was forgiven although not quite forgotten.

“They spoke draconic, Creed,’ Dale blurted out.

The next video that he showed me was about him and Nick tailing Terrence who had no problem going inside the borders and then the photos of him meeting with Aurelia along with troops of mages. When Dale was obsessed about something, he made sure he finished it. When I glanced at him, I noticed the dark circles under his eyes as if he had been losing his sleep over this investigation.

He was spying on his king, an act worthy of death.

‘Rumors are circulating that the Alpha King has been frequenting the mage realm. He and the Queen are constantly seen together these past few weeks,’ Dale added. ‘I don’t want to assume anything, alpha. I know that His Majesty is your friend, that’s why I didn’t inform you about this sooner. But after confirming that they were speaking draconic, I just had to talk to you about it tonight. I could not hide this anymore. Your sister doesn’t know. Only me and and now, you do too.’

Dale sighed and turned off the screen. ‘I know that you treat him as your friend. I have high respect for him. I am not concluding anything yet. I still do not have further proof. But if my hunch is right, then we all need to be very careful around the Alpha King, especially you and Eli. The Dragon King mentioned the possibility of Hugo having a son. What if Terrence is…’

Dale did not continue his words as the wheels in my head turned.

We only knew that Terrence’s father was a shifter. Since he had a werewolf, we naturally assumed it was one of us. If he was Hugo’s son, how come he had a werewolf as well?

Elianna’s hunter was said to be a tribrid. Terrence was not welcome in the mage’s realm because of his mixed blood. In our realm, he was not fully accepted, especially as the alpha king. The crown on his head was made
