Claimed By My Husband's Enemy novel Chapter 127

Chapter 127

(Eli)

Creed stiffened. I remembered this. This was his exact expression the day I told him I was carrying his baby although I knew better than to be offended now. This was one of those times I felt good about myself because no other woman could make him react like this.

He didn’t say a word and just bit my ring finger before sucking it as if marking me there.

“Creed?”

He laid me on our bed, kissed my mouth hungrily, but didn’t rip apart my clothes unlike last night and the nights before, leaving my mouth open in shock. He just smirked and covered my body with a blanket before saying, “Good night, love. Your uncle Aramides called for a drink. I’m heading out now. Go to sleep first.”

I thought it was a typical boys’ night. No, scratch that. It should be ancients’ night, but it was the fifth night in a row now. Creed would often return late at night, freshly showered, and would leave early in the morning for a pack meeting or hunting with the ancients. He would call to chat with me and our son during mealtime and then he would say goodbye again.

By the sixth day, he didn’t call and didn’t respond to any of my messages. I was starting to worry so I tried contacting Silver, the current luna of his former pack.

“What’s going on? Is there a pack problem?” I asked right away. “How can I help?”

“Good afternoon to you too, Eli,” she greeted cheerily through a video call, smiling wide, and then frowning. “What problem are you saying? Everything’s going well around here.”

“Then can you please tell your mate to stop hoarding my mate? They are always together.”

“What do you mean? The last time Leo and I saw Creed was during the foundation party in the dragon realm. Wait. I’m going to link with Leo to confirm.”

Silver was quiet for a moment while I sat impatiently beside my son who was currently humming the dragon hymn that he heard during the gathering while sketching the dragons.

“Strange. Leo clearly said he hasn’t seen Creed, but when I told him that you were looking for your mate, his response changed and said they are together. He said they’re hunting. I told him to send pictures, but that jerk disappeared from the link.”

The next person I called was Uncle Aram.

“Uncle, do you know where my mate is?”

“He’s with me,” he answered way too quickly which I would have believed in another time if only this was not a video call and I wasn’t hearing his rugged breathing and was not seeing how messy his hair was including that trace of lipstick on his throat.

“You can’t see him now. He is currently in the bathroom, but we are really together,” Uncle added defensively.

I heard a smack from somewhere.

“Next time you lie to me, make sure I won’t find traces of your lis, uncle. That lipstick shade belongs to my mom. I know that one. I just gave her that five days ago. And I can see her hair from here. Tell her it’s useless to hide from me.”

Mom must have heard because she showed up on the camera, smiling guiltily with hair as messy as Uncle Aram’s and with kiss marks on her throat.

“You mean to say that Creed is also there and is watching you both like a creep as you two make out like some horny teenagers?”

“Horny what?” Mom blushed. “We are not like that! Your uncle and I are just talking.”

“Yeah. Talking. On the bed. Without clothes. How bold.”

Mom gasped as she looked at her top, realizing she forgot to fix a few buttons. “No need to be shy, mom. I mean that’s how Creed and I did our son, but that’s off the topic. You are two mature ancients-“I paused when both of them glared at me with their faces still bright red either from shame or guilt. I didn’t want to know anymore. God, I wanted to forget the sight of them like this as soon as possible. I’d make sure to ask my dragon uncles how. “I mean you are both single and mature adults, for heaven’s sake. What I want to know is about Creed. Where is he?”

“With Terrence.”

“With Alistair.”

Both of them answered at the same time and lied to me at the same time as well. When I narrowed my eyes, they cleared their throats, glanced at each other like kids, and then repeated their answers in a different manner.

“With Alistair.”

“With Terrence.”

They switched answers and still did not get it right. “Why are you doing this? What did he threaten you with? Did he catch you doing the deed?”

I meant that as a joke, but when their eyes widened, I groaned. Lying to me about his location must have been their way to hide whatever this was. My head throbbed.

“Next time, have a meeting or something first before you answer This is why communication is important, ancients. I’ll make sure to just text next time and Uncle Aram, please don’t answer calls when you’re… busy, damn it. Goodbye. Have fun. Whatever.”

Mom looked hesitant when she spoke. “You are not… mad?”

“Elianna-”

“Stop that!” I said in a shaky voice. My eyes watered. This was why I didn’t tell him anything. “First, you turned yourself into a hybrid. Next, you separated your wolf from your body. All those for me. You almost died twice doing things that you shouldn’t. And now this? Just for what? To make me see the fucking colors? Do you think I’ll be happy to gain them back knowing that you’ll lose them in the process? Goddamn it, Creed” I threw away the books as I kneeled on the floor and desperately wiped the mana circle that he drew with my hands. My tears were falling as he bent down and stopped my hands. “If you sacrifice for me one more time, I will never forgive you.”

Creed wiped the tears off my face. “Love-”

“If you truly love me, why would you break my heart like this?” I smacked him on the chest furiously. “Do you think I’m incapable now that I couldn’t detect mana?”

“Fuck, no!”

“Then do you see me weak?”

“Never, Elianna.”

The worst part was that I knew he meant it. I heard his sincerity. In his eyes, I was probably the bravest. In his eyes, I was always the best. I never doubted that he was doing something nasty behind my back. I knew Creed always had a reason. And that was what I was worried and furious about.

I was his first in everything. I was worried that maybe I taught him wrong. Maybe I was a bad influence. Because love didn’t always mean sacrifice. Love didn’t always mean losing parts of himself to make me feel whole.

I knew all about giving. Before I met him, I was always the one who gave more. ‘More’ was how I lost myself. And Creed had already given me so much more.

What if he lost himself in the process?

“Then why?!” I sobbed. “You should be using all that energy to be with me and our son, to kiss me, to propose to me! That’s all I wanted! Not this! I told you I wanted a ring! I swallowed my own words. I was ready to become the craziest woman in the planet by wanting to marry again-”

Creed shut me up by kissing me. Our tongues collided fiercely, ngrily, passionately.

“I wanted you to see this properly when I proposed.”

And then he took out a ring from his pocket, the loveliest ring ever seen. He heard the message loud and clear that night. He had been preparing.

I sobbed harder. “Creed, I don’t have to see its color to know that it’s beautiful. I don’t have to see colors. I only have to see you.”
