“Before this night ends, we will have to make an announcement, Elianna. You know that. What is
your
decision?”
I glanced at the Rosewood siblings. Gone was the warm atmosphere around us from the wedding hall. When he summoned me in the middle of the reception, I knew where this was heading just like how the people outside already had a clue. Anticipation buzzed the hall as I walked a while ago and followed Alistair in the throne room through the portal.
Right now, Jacques was not looking at me like a family. He sat before me on his throne as the supreme king of all the realms and was staring back at me as one of his citizens.
Creed and I had already discussed this. In front of our guests, he vowed to support and stand by my decision. This conversation would have ended the first time my uncles brough this up. The only reason why I spent weeks considering this was because of the last line the dragon king drilled in my held before.
Two months ago…
‘Should you accept the crown, as the queen of all realms, you will have access to things that only the dragon ruler can possess.
‘Such as?’ I asked.
‘Limitless knowledge,’ Uncle Anson replied. ‘Records of all the realms. No matter how hard Creed looked, he was unable to find certain records about your case.
I swallowed. ‘Are you saying that if I reign, my eyesight can be cured?’
Uncle Anson grinned. ‘I am saying that nothing is impossible with those records, Elianna. They contained spells locked by the previous rulers, spells which do not require anyone’s sacrifice to become possible.’
Present Time
“You can always say no, sweetheart. You don’t have to force yourself. I’m sure there are other qualified people who are vying for the position,” mom said softly.
“She can do that, yes,” Uncle Anson added. “However, let us not forget to also consider the citizens’ feelings here, Eloise, especially the dragons. Elianna has to at least try first than give up without trying at all. That way, we can still proudly tell the people that she gave it her best although it did not work, not for lack of anything. But because her heart is simply not in it. If you are worried and thinking that you will handle things alone, don’t.
“We will offer you our assistance. Your uncle Jack will step down and become a council member while I will remain a part of it. The entire council will guide you through it, Eli,” he assured. So, I suggest that you at least give it a year before you give up or continue. Who knows? You might end up liking it. No one at on that throne and hated it. Besides, I heard you were taking lessons from Alistair himself. And he praised you for learning very fast.”
I bit my lower lip. My uncles never said it, but I saw it in their eys. They were exhausted. And I couldn’t blame them. Uncle Jack ruled for decades while Uncle Anson stood by him as his righthand man, Before they saw me and mom, I heard they were planning to put themselves in a deep slumber. That was how fed up they were about the world after centuries of existing although to my relief, Uncle Anson no longer wanted to do that because he had finally found someone to spend eternity with and it was through Aurelia.
“Before I say anything, I want to ask something first,” I said andared at the Rosewood men. “You knew about Dale, didn’t you?”
I kept thinking about it after waking up from the coma. It was stinge how they easily gave me access to their military troops, how Alistair didn’t seem surprised when we found out about Dale’s true colors.

Chapter 131
“We had an idea,” Uncle Jack confessed. “We had a few suspects in mind. And one of them was him.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
The brothers just shrugged.
My eyes narrowed. “You were testing me.”

“We were waiting for you to realize it and act on it. And the way ou acted exceeded our expectations, Elianna. The council saw that as well, including the kings and queens and our soldiers As of tonight, every single citizen in all the realms heard of your contribution to the Purging.”
Purging. That was how they referred to the war against Hugo’s creations.
“That was different, Your Excellency. Back then, I could still detect mana.”
The Dragon King arched his brow. “Are you saying you are giving up?”
I clenched my hands. “No. I’m only giving you the chance to change your mind about this before I take your throne from you.”
The Rosewoods grinned. Pride and amusement lit their faces. Deep down, I knew this was what they wanted. For me to fight for my right as their heir. My mom chuckled.
My husband was still worried about me, particularly about my egesight. I knew he hadn’t stopped searching for ways to help me regain colors. Uncle Jack had given me the clue. I could cure my eyesight through the spells written in the records that I could unlock once I sat on the highest seat. Through that, I could prove myself. I could prove that I didn’t need Creed’s twenty-four-seven protection and monitoring, that I was capable
A part of me was nervous but I wanted to challenge myself and explore my limits. I would give my all so I could provide my son a better realm along with his dad. Before they spoke about giving me a hand, I knew the first hand who would reach out would always be my husband. With all of us combined, I was positive that we could create something beautiful.
I took a deep breath and announced, “I will do my best, Your Excellency.”
Uncle Jack rose from his throne. “I am sure you will.”
Mom ran to embrace me while Alistair appeared with a tray in his hand full of wineglasses. He had given the first glass to the King, to me, then to uncle Anson, and to mom.
“Congratulations, your highness,” he chirped after bowing before me. “When is the coronation?”
“After their honeymoon,” mom answered before the brothers could speak. “My daughter has yet to enjoy her married life. Surely, her uncles could wait.”
The two looked like they wanted to argue but were silenced when mom glared at them. In the end, they nodded. Her smile widened, Mom could be terrifying when she wanted to.
“Anyway, congrats, big brother. You are finally stepping down. You are getting very, very old. With this, you will finally have some time to think about getting married,” Uncle Anson butted.
Uncle Jack scowled at his brother as if he wanted to murder him “Why? Does marriage stop aging?”
“No. Getting married actually makes you age faster. Been there, one that,” mom replied.
“At least, it’ll be different for princess Eli. I think if someone is bound to age faster between the two of them, it’ll be Creed.”
The Rosewoods nodded, making me frown. After a while, Alistai shook his head. “Anyway, I feel betrayed on behalf of Aramides who was already planning your wedding, Eloise. If he eard that, his heart would be broken.”

Uncle Anson just laughed before turning to me. Fondness was visible in his eyes as he raised his glass. “To the new Queen.”
“To tamers,” mom added.
“To new beginnings,” the Dragon King declared proudly.
“To me,” I responded and lifted my own glass. “To chaos”
They all grinned.
I left the throne room, crossed the portal, and was about to return to the function room when a hand grabbed me in the dark corridor. Unlike the first time it happened, there was no fear in my chest. The bond thrummed inside me. I looked up and found the most stunning eyes staring back at me.
“Hello, Mrs. Black.”
My heart raced. “Hi, Mr. Black.”
Dawson. Richards. Rosewood. Beckett. There were so many surnames. None sounded and felt as right as ‘Black’ The best part was that in his arms, there was no pressure for me to be anyone else. I was just Mrs. Black, the wife he loved so much.
Through the bond, I could feel how proud he was of me.
Without his love, I wouldn’t have been this ambitious and think that I could take a role this high. True to his vow, Creed’s love had given me wings and made me do things that I thought were impossible for someone like me.
My brows furrowed when his smile suddenly vanished. “Is something wrong?”
“Now that your conversation with His Excellency is over, can I take you somewhere? There is an emergency.”
My chest pounded in panic. “What? Why? What is it about? Is it mane?”
“Come and you will see. Hurry.”
Creed quickly led me down the hallway. He opened a certain door. He shut it quietly and with a snap, the standing lamp from a desk in a corner lit up, making me realize that we were inside the library. “Creed, what’s the emergency-”
Hot lips nudged my ear as he brought my hand over the bulge in his crotch. “Right here is the emergency.”
My lips parted. The reception was still ongoing. There were guests waiting but the second I felt it, hot, thick, and hard, I couldn’t move my hand away. My brain shut down in an instant All I could see and think about was the man in front of me. I swallowed as I gave his shaft a squeeze. I watched as his eyes fell shut.
Damn it. My husband was hot.
The hottest in the world.
My throat went dry as I started stroking him through his pants. And what do you want me to do about this emergency, Mr. Black?”
Creed opened his eyes as he rasped, “Turn around and strip for he, Mrs. Black.”
