Chapter 136

1 had barely pulled myself together when I heard a knock on the door. For a while, hope bloomed in my chest, thinking that it was my husband. But when I didn’t feel the bond thrum within me, my shoulders sagged. With the use of mana, the documents which Creed placed on the couch neatly were back on my table. I plopped down on my swivel chair; my heated body was still aching.
“Your Excellency?”
Right, I totally forgot about Sammy the same way that I’d forgotten how to be quiet when my husband assaulted me with his mouth. Did she… hear me lose my sanity?
“Come in,” I said in a hoarse voice.
To my surprise, my secretary pushed a trolley inside the office.
“I don’t remember asking you for those, Sam.”
“Lord Creed told me to get some drinks for you when he dropped by, Your Excellency. He specifically ordered that I get the coldest drinks for you.”
I blushed. So, she was not around the whole time Creed was in my office? She looked clueless. He was just teasing me when he told me to be quiet. If he wasn’t such a hot bastard, my blood would have been boiling by now. He must have been so amused when he saw how hard I tried to keep my mouth shut. My core was still swollen and shuddering. The tips of my breasts which he played and sucked so much ached. My knees were a weak mess.
And I couldn’t even be mad about it knowing that I was wrong. I deserved that punishment.
“Are you okay, Your Excellency? Your face is red and you are sweating so much.”
Concern was evident in both her face and voice. I wiped the sweat off my forehead. If she knew all this was just because my husband refused to make me come, would she still worry like that?
The pen in my hand snapped. When I could no longer take it, I rose from my seat and struggled not to wince. “I’m… okay. It’s a good thing you’re here. I’m about to leave as well. I apologize for calling you on a rest day, Sam.”
If only Creed waited just a bit longer, I’d have gathered my things and gone home with him because I’d already finished signing that final document when he arrived.
“No need for apologies, Your Excellency,” she beamed. “I would also get to rest once Darla takes over.”
Darla was the secretary I stole from Uncle Jack. She originally worked for him and would still continue to work for him when I scouted her. It wasn’t easy. The old woman was very loyal to my uncle. It took weeks of charming her to get her to agree although her son must have influenced her decision since I accidentally learned that Rex, a former soldier, was unable to shift into his dragon form after his wings got incapacitated in a war when Hugo was alive.
I healed his wings and had no intention of letting her know about it. I didn’t want her to work with me thinking she owed me something, but her overjoyed son couldn’t keep a secret to save his life. Since then, Darla treated me as some sort of a superhero, she insisted on working for me and would actually start tomorrow Sammy would work with her for a week and then she would have her one-week paid vacation to a place of her own choosing which she rightfully deserved.
I couldn’t let Sam handle my schedule and the review of plenty of documents by herself. That’s why there would be two of them to manage things.

Thank you, Sam.” I glanced at the trolley and grabbed a canned soda. “Grab as many drinks as you want and then share the est with others.”
Her eyes shone. She brought the most expensive drinks, after all. I drank the soda hoping the cold liquid would somehow ase the tension and the burning sensation in my body. But as expected, it didn’t help. Not at all.
was running by the time I got off the elevator and only managed to wave at the numerous guards who all bowed with me out ran with me out of concern.
Your Excellency!”
Damn it. There was. I needed to come.
More than that, I had a man at home that I had to win over.
needed to get to the portal fast. I needed to get home. And home was by the beach in the wolves’ realm. We had a castle ntirely meant for us here in the dragon realm, another one in the mages’ realm where Creed built a castle for me, but nothing could beat the warmth brought by that house by the beach.
t wasn’t too big; it was just enough for our family to still see each other unlike the massive castles which could house a pack or two and still have enough space to play hide and seek although we used the castle in the mage realm for vacations while he one in the dragon territory was for nights that we had to stay over every time there were gatherings.
had no time to stop and make an excuse to the guards. If I wouldn’t hurry, I felt like the gap between me and my husband would get worse. But it turned out we were creating a commotion. On my way to the east wing where the portal was located.
saw Aurelia with my uncle. He quickly held his woman and placed her behind him as if I was going to snatch her away
rom him.
What’s happening?” he asked as he glanced at the guards behind me, frowning.
I’m coming home. Distract them for me, Uncle!” I replied, not pausing for a minute. “Please attend the presentation on my >ehalf tomorrow. I’ll be on leave.”
was a woman on a mission. And nobody could stop me.
Really?” He sounded too excited about it. “When are you coming back?”
In two weeks!”
Black succeeded after all.” I overheard him whisper to Aurelia as he said, “The council will take care of everything, don’t worry. You have done a splendid job, we will take charge from here. Your Uncle Jack kidnapped Zane so you can just enjoy your vacation. You deserve it. Bring home baby number two, sweetheart!”
That was if my husband could forgive me. I just waved goodbye as I dashed towards the portal in the back garden. When I finally landed in front of the beach house, it was as if the tension was immediately lifted off my shoulders.
This was what home meant.
I was always excited to come home. It meant that I could see my son and my husband. It meant I could rest. I now had so many places to live and rest in. But I only got to do that with my two most favorite people on Earth.
All the lights were on.
I pushed the door open. Just like before, I felt the entire zoo in my stomach. It was always like this. Years of being together and my heart was still not used to it. I hurried to our room as if my life depended on it and found Creed sitting in the armchair near the window with only his jeans, barefoot, and was holding a wineglass.

He took his time turning around. “Ten minutes. That was fast.”

“Well, you made sure I’ll hurry back to you.” I swallowed hard. “Thank you for the cold drinks. That was very thoughtful of you, husband.”
He smirked. “Glad to be of help, wife.”
“On the contrary, no drinks could help me. I’m really sorry, Creed. I was wrong. Are you still mad at me?”
He sighed. “I was never mad, Elianna.”
“Then are you still disappointed?”
“You could never disappoint me. You were doing so well as a ruler, as a mother.”
“But not as a wife.” I bit my lower lip. “How do I make it up to you? I’ll do anything.”
