Chapter 139
(Kairos)
“Dad…” Leonardo crawled to my side; desperation was clouding his eyes. “What will I do? I-I don’t want to die!”

My mind went blank. But only for a few seconds. I had to think fast. My son’s life was at stake and so was our family’s. I knew Creed Black. I had encountered the man many times in my life. Being a family man may have softened him up. However, when it came to his mate and children, he was more dangerous than all the monsters combined.
Not to mention Her Excellency herself. And the Rosewood lords.
If they found out about this, I would certainly lose my one and only child. He was still so young. He still had a bright future ahead of him.
Worse comes to worst, our family would fall apart.
Lords Anson, Jacques, and Aramides were going to hunt us.
No, none of those things should happen. We had just united with the royals. My sister had just gotten married to the man she loved. I had never seen her so happy until she reunited with Lord Anson, her first and last love. Their relationship and our realm’s union with the dragons and the wolves would be jeopardized.
Ross, the healer stood. “We have to report this so the royal family can prepare themselves and say goodbye-”
“No!” Using mana, I took away the princess’ dress and wrapped her with the scarf I grabbed from the healer who looked at me like I was going crazy. And he was probably right. “No one must know this. I will find a way. Wait for me.”
And then I disappeared with the princess in my arms and brought her to another forest in the werewolves’ territory. “I’m so sorry,” I whispered as my tears landed onto her face. “In another life, I would have never done this to you, but I have no choice. Too much are at stake. I promise I will pay for my sins when we meet in the other world, your highness. Until then, I promise to think of you, to remember you, and suffer in silence.”
She stirred. Her eyes half-opened. I was taken aback when her green eyes had turned hauntingly purple; a proof of too much mana tapped from nature. And then she closed her eyes.
When I left, I no longer heard her breathing. I wiped the tears off my face as I teleported back to my own realm where the guard, Leonardo, and the healer were pacing back and forth.
Ross’ eyes widened. “My lord! Where did you bring the princess?”
“She’s gone,” I rasped and stared at my son. “Who else knows that you are here?”
“Just Dante,” he answered shakily, referring to the guard whom he had treated like an older brother. “The servants thought 1 was resting in my chambers.”
“Good.” I nodded. My palms had turned cold. “Did the kids see you?”
He shook his head.
“What about their guards?”
“They didn’t bring any. They must have escaped their guards as they ran here to play. B-because I used the nature’s energy. 1 felt them enter. They didn’t see me, dad. I only heard their screams that’s why I ran here. P-prince Zane’s mana clashed against mine, against nature.”

Ross’ eyes narrowed. “His mana wouldn’t have simply clashed with just anyone, young master, unless you tapped into a forbidden spell, a forbidden energy.”
“I-I only did it once,” Leonardo answered defensively. “I-it will never happen again. I-it’s a part of my research!”
“Because of your research, the princess died and two people are injured!”
Leonardo was wrong and I would make sure he would be dealt with without him dying. He was young. I could still correct him. My son was a coward. I knew he meant it when he said he would not do this again. If needed, I would carve this memory into his head so he would never forget and make a mistake again.
I glanced at Dante and Ross. “Like I said, no one should know about this.”
The guard paled. “I-I saw nothing, my lord. I will keep my mouth shut. You have my word-”
Before he could finish his sentence, I slashed him with my sword. Leonardo gasped. I turned to Ross next. Before he could use a spell, my sword had already pierced his heart.
More tears flooded my cheeks as both men looked at me with betrayal in their eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Leonardo ran to his guard, embracing his dead body while shaking violently like a leaf. Guilt and grief were in his eyes, two things that I knew he could also see in mine.
My knees crumbled as I dropped onto the ground. Through mana, I got rid of the sword. The traces of blood in my hands and clothes had vanished. I made sure that our scents were untraceable. I concealed Ross’ stab wound and crafted another spell that would make anyone unable to detect me and my son. If he were here and could still see me, I knew he was cursing me the entire time I did it. I would beg for his forgiveness when we met on the other side. But right now, I had no other choice.
I took one last look at the kids and at the spell I made before I brought my son back to his chamber.
Luckily for us, no one knew our ability to teleport. Including my sister. It was a secret we kept that I believed would save us in times of trouble. I just never thought it would be this kind of trouble. I stared at my hands after taking a shower. I made sure to scrub my body so many times until every part of me was red and hurting.
Leonardo finished his shower and walked towards me, still trembling. Both of us thoroughly showered and looked immaculately clean from the outside. However, from this day forward, the blood of the royals, of the princess, of Dante, and Ross would forever taint our hands.
The silence between us was broken by his cracked voice. “W-what are we…. going to do now, dad?”
I wiped his tears and cupped his face. “You were never there, do you understand? You were sick all day. As for your bodyguard, you didn’t see him again. As of this moment, he is a traitor who abandoned his post.”
Pain flashed in his eyes before he closed them. “Dad…”
“Do you understand?” I repeated as I squeezed his cheeks,
He winced and nodded. “Y-yes, dad.”
“Look straight into my eyes and say it again!”
