Chapter 138

Laughter echoed in the garden as Zane’s little wolf tried chasing his dad’s wolf. Creed and I were both watching him while Mari giggled in my arms. I could still recall foolishly crying my heart out the night I ordered pizza and they forgot to add the pepperoni. That was how my husband found out I was pregnant, claiming I only started to become emotional over food when we had Zane.

I remembered the terror in his eyes upon the confirmation and yet, he still gave in to my every craving. And now, she was in my arms. Mari’s drool fell on my arm as she giggled when the wolf growled playfully, motioning her hands. And suddenly, there was fire. It started small but the more she laughed and become fascinated, the more she motioned her hands, and the fire grew.

And to think she was only ten months old.

Creed and I stared at each other, shock was visible on our faces as he put the fire off with his mana. Zane shifted in his human form, his eyes widening as he approached us. Creed handed him a robe which he gracefully accepted.

“Was it Mari?” he asked as he fondly caressed his sister’s chubby cheeks.

As if on cue, the naughty baby moved her little hands, burning her brother’s robe. Zane’s mana quickly got rid of the fire. Both of the kids laughed while I stood there, dumbfounded.

I knew my kids were powerful. Zane shifted before turning seven, same as his genius father. So far, only the two of them had ever done it in the werewolf history. But I didn’t know they were this powerful.

“That’s awesome!” Our boy exclaimed excitedly. “You can now use mana, Mari. If you grow a little more, together, we can burn-”

Creed cleared his throat. “What are you going to burn, young man?”

His face flustered. “Our enemies, daddy.”

“Emies,” Mari repeated, her eyes shining while clapping her hands as if supporting her brother, even if she didn’t understand any of the words he said.

“Only use your goddess-given powers in times of emergency,” Creed said, gently messing with our son’s hair. “There are no more enemies, son. That time was over. The only reason why you are training is because your mother and I want you to control your mana. Understood?”

“Yes, dad.”

Maybe it was because I gave birth to him during the war time that Zane sometimes felt anxious. At a very young age, he felt like he needed to keep everyone safe. That’s why he had been training more diligently compared to his peers although Creed and I often reminded him to take it easy and to still remember how to play like the rest of the kids did.

In fact, if he started trying too hard and staying too long in the training room, Creed was often at his rescue, putting the kid on his shoulder, and taking him out. And then he would shift or allow his wolf to run with Zane which really helped the latter calm down. Both of the wolves would come back to us playfully and brimming with warmth and energy afterwards.

Zane fixed his robe and looked up at me. “Mom, you must be tired. You’ve been carrying Mari for a while now?

That was because with her daddy, all Mari wanted was to play. Creed Black’s defenses were down when it came to our kids. She would just charm him with her radiant smiles and dimples, and he would instantly forget he was supposed to make her sleep and would play along like he used to do with Zane. It was different for me though. She could at least fall asleep in my

“Let me take charge, mom. Mari and I will play.”

Zane was the sweetest boy I’d ever known. Before Mari came, he’d been requesting for a sibling, promising he’d be the most lovable big brother. That’s why when he finally had one, he became the brother Creed and I hoped he would be. In fact, he exceeded our expectations. In the morning, after greeting me and his dad, he would run to Mari’s room, kiss her good morning and would do the same before going to bed at night. There were days when he would feed her himself, days when i couldn’t believe how lucky I was.

“Zane, sweetheart?” I called.

“Yes, mom?”

“Your dad and I are very proud of you,” I told him like Creed and I both did every single day.

He showed me the exact replica of his father’s smile, the one that had many girls his age lining up to be with the little prince. “I know. Thank you, mom, dad.”

“Love you,” I added.

Creed patted his son’s shoulder. “Me too.”

Zane had always treated his father as his idol. That’s why his smile grew bigger, his eyes sparkled as he answered, “Love you both.”

Mari seemed fed up with the drama as she sighed and reached out to Zane. I grinned and brought her to her brother’s arms. Zane kissed her softly by the cheeks making Mari giggle. When her drool fell, he quickly wiped it off with his thumb.

“You are so pretty,” he cooed.

“Preeyi,” she replied beaming while nodding her head.

She was pretty and she seemed to know it. We all laughed.

“Our daughter is going to kick ass, one day,” I muttered.

“You bet,” Creed replied, amused.

My husband wrapped his arms around my waist as he stood behind me. I leaned onto his chest. I was living the dream. I was the happiest I’d ever been. Every morning, I still woke up with gratitude and excitement to be with my husband and our

kids

“Damn. How did I get this lucky in life?” I uttered.

So, this was what it meant to be with your soul mate, to be with a man who got you and your heart. It was like everything had fallen into place, like the universe was making it up to us after all those struggles.

Creed spun me around. I stared at the best thing that ever happened in my life, at the man who could be King but refused it. because he was content with being my soldier, with being the wind beneath my wings. I thought the heavens had

favorites. And I was not included on the list. I realized I was wrong because there were billions of men in the world and they gave me Creed Black, a testament to how much I was loved by the heavens after all.

“I love you, Creed Black.”

I would never get tired telling him that every day.

Chapter 138

“You are the air I breathe, Mrs. Black.”

The words sounded so much sweeter than ‘I love you.’ And then he kissed me.

This was it.

Or so I thought.

“My lord!”

Leonardo’s guard dropped to my feet, his shoulders shaking. He looked terrified as if he was chased by demons on his way to the library. I casted a quick spell and stared at the glass window. From there, I watched as my sister, Aurelia, chatted with Her Excellency and her husband, Sir Black.

“What is it?” I asked in a tensed voice.

This was the first party that my sister hosted after being married to the Rosewood clan. Everything had to be perfect. And that haunted look in the guard’s eyes could ruin it all.

“Y-young master…” he rasped, sobbing.

My heart began beating like a drum. “What happened to Leonardo?”

I knew that my son had been training his mana. At nineteen, even if he was powerful enough, he still had his reservations because Prince Zane at thirteen had shown exemplary progress even as a hybrid. And people were talking. Leonardo, with a full mage blood, ought to be stronger, they said. And so the constant pressure to be better was on my son’s shoulders who would soon rule the mage realm.
