“There he is. The prince’s boy toy.”
“Isn’t he Sebastian’s fuck toy too? I’m amazed. Gray is proving to be one capable son of a bitch. He’s climbing alphas faster than any whores I’d seen. Just how good did he suck their cocks to drive them crazy?”
“You’ll never know, Ric. Gray only targets the powerful. And you’re not one of them.”
That statement was followed by another round of laughter.
“I’m out of here. If Gray tattles to his alphas, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Look at what happened to Lance, Carl, and Lex. They’re still in the clinic.”
That shut them up. It was Thursday when August dropped me here. For the past three days, we would all wake from the alarm and go through three hours of morning run even on a Sunday. Laurent extended the hours mercilessly. Torturing us in the morning wasn’t enough for him. He just had to do it at night that’s why I’d been crawling to bed these days.
I was physically exhausted. Good thing Sebastian had been avoiding me lately otherwise, I’d also be drained mentally. My only silver lining was the fridge and the newly installed cabinet that had the best snacks in the world. It was my version of paradise in our hellish dormitory. I got to fuel up my stomach before and after the run.
The fridge itself must have been supported by mana since the dorm inspector didn’t seem to notice it when he came by the other night although now that I thought about it, I saw him sweating buckets as he looked everywhere but the fridge and cabinet before announcing, “There is nothing suspicious here. All good. Good night, gentlemen.”
The two-door fridge was taller than me. As for the cabinet, I had to tiptoe the first day I reached for a snack although a ladder appeared the next day, making things easier somehow. I loved the fridge and the cabinet. I could forget that I hated Aidan each time I was eating a bunch of delicacies that I hadn’t seen and tasted before. The labels stated they were from the mage’s and dragon’s realm. Their deserts were topnotch.
Last night, there was a box of pepperoni pizza there, my favorite. It was either Aidan dropped by when I was not around or when I was asleep. I hadn’t seen him since the day I escaped from his claws right after he declared that I was his in front of a guard. I had a feeling he only let me run and that he was only letting me get away for now.
He could give me all the food in the world, and it wouldn’t be enough for me to be his. Although if he gave me all the black cards in the world… I might reconsider-I smacked both of my cheeks before my thoughts wandered further.
‘Get a grip, Ari. That isn’t how your dad raised you’, I reminded myself.
When I looked up, I found my classmates staring at me like I’d been possessed. Maybe I was. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste my time thinking about certain alphas every now and then. When I grinned, to my surprise, they shivered and quickly turned away, including the ones talking shit about me.

I squared my shoulders. I didn’t mind using their misunderstanding about me, Sebastian, and Aidan to block me from the rest of the alphas. The worse the rumors were, the better. Sebastian and Aidan were powerful and influential people after all. If their fear for those two would stop the students from attacking me, my chances of graduating would increase by fifty percent.
The room had instantly become cold because of the man who just walked in. My classmates swallowed. As far as I knew, first years were composed of the men who either had just become alphas of their packs or the ones who would soon inherit the position. Enrolling in BMB was a test not only for the alphas but also for their packs who were also being monitored and judged on how they would behave without their ruling alpha that’s why it was a wonder how August pulled that off.
In short, first years were students whose skills were still being developed, they may be alphas, but they were the gullible people who were yet to prove themselves to the society. That’s why they cower to their professors and suck up to them so much.
All of them stood and bowed as they greeted the high and mighty Ancient.
“Good morning, Professor,” they said altogether, pretending to be decent beings.
Now who was the cocksucker? It looked like my classmates would do anything to please the Ancient.
“Good morning. I am Bradley Laurent. And I will be your professor for self-defense 101. I will be strictly monitoring your physical skills. So, get ready to sweat and bleed for the rest of the school year.”
That last line was probably meant for me judging by how Ancient’s ice-cold gaze landed onto me upon delivering the last word.
My mate was expecting me to bleed. How charming.
Since everyone was still standing except me, he narrowed his eyes on me. “Get your ass out of that chair, Gray. The training will start today,”
(Sev)
“Ouch. That was a nasty fall.”
“Who’s that guy?”
“Ari Gray.”
All my questions were answered after hearing that name. No wonder the students gathered out here in the open field to watch the match in the middle of the pouring rain. Bradley was as cruel as I remembered. The first day was often for introductions but here he was, getting straight to the main event already.
And I knew who caused it.
Ari Gray,
Again.
He must have wanted to eliminate Ari in the first quarter with the excuse of sparring and testing their skills.

The students immediately gave way after seeing me. I stood in the front row as Ari ducked the fist of his sparring partner. There were already four bruised students on the side, two of them passed out while the other two were murdering Ari with their eyes.
“Who did that?” I asked the guy beside me who happened to be Nero as I mentioned the students who would soon occupy the clinic.
“My friend, Ari,” he answered proudly.
Damn. Bradley’s plan backfired. Since Ari got in through improper means, he must have underestimated Shorty’s skills. I couldn’t blame him. I did too. The prince deliberately didn’t avoid Ari’s fist, and Lance may have been knocked out over a punch, but the moron was wasted that night. Both times didn’t count.
Now they did.
When the guy at the center swept his leg out and knocked Ari down, he was quick to rise as if the blood on his mouth triggered something in him. He did a swift roundhouse kick, his attacker reared back and threw a punch which, to my surprise, Ari deflected. He was light on his feet and had fluid movements. We all watched as he leaped into the air and wrapped his legs around his opponent’s neck before his knuckles smashed into the latter’s nose.
We heard a piercing scream which had the second and third year students laughing. It was the first time an alpha ever screamed like a girl in a sparring.
By this time, Ari knew that he was being targeted by Bradley and by his classmates. And yet, there was a twisted glimmer in his eyes. He was enjoying this.
