Our gazes locked and I knew in an instant that she was my missing piece. The madness, the darkness, and the rage I had about the world disappeared. The red haze that was stuck with me for seventeen years faded. It was as if Mari had unconsciously cleansed them all just with her presence.

For the first time, I saw the world in its pure colors. There were no further introductions needed. The calm to my chaos was back. For so long, I felt the invisible chains wrapped tightly around me. Seeing her had freed me.

But there were three problems that arose.

One, Mari did not remember me. It was a given. She was only a little girl at that time but that made things more complicated. Two, for some reason, she was pretending to be someone else. She had layers of mana blocking her gender and identity. Her eyes and the color of her hair had changed.

I had a feeling that I could only see the real her because she marked me. And three, the Blacks had been too disappointed and too broken these past years to believe even in my words no matter how much they trusted me.

Even if they saw Mari now, with Her Excellency’s current inability to identify mana, they might not be utterly convinced. Even Bradley, a hybrid and her mate, didn’t see through her. Lord Creed may have mana, but we were dealing with a tamer here who was far stronger than Lord Creed and Her Excellency herself. If Ari chose to hide, they wouldn’t be able to recognize her like I did, especially in her alpha form.

The Blacks were secretly searching for Mari but rumors about it still circulated. And women pretending to be her showed up at their doorstep about a hundred times now, all of them bearing mana and looks that resembled her: golden blonde hair and green eyes. And each time, the royal family was disappointed.

How could I explain that the one they were looking for now had purple eyes and silver hair?

‘Thank you, Aidan. You made me laugh. It’s been a long time since I laughed that hard, the Dragon Queen softly said after I met with her three nights ago to inform her about her daughter. I showed her photos of Ari.

Knowing that I met her at BMB and was an alpha was already enough for Zane, not to even throw a second glance at the photos. I was right. They all thought I had completely lost my marbles, that my wolf and I had finally lost it after years of being unstable without knowing that my mind was never this clearer until I found her again.

History books had shown that tamers could use glamour but neither mages nor tamers had that much of a skill to hide their gender as a female and an omega, much worse, to portray as an alpha, claiming that although outside appearances could be faked, their wolves could not.

But that was only because the people who had written those history books had not met Ari Gray yet.

She and I had to find a way to make them meet the dragon royalties but for that to happen, I needed to gain her trust first. I needed to know what happened to her. She must have needed help. She must have been desperate if she had to go to such lengths to conceal her identity.

Right now, my men were hunting August Gray in the mage’s realm. He was the key to all this. He must have discovered that there were men looking for him. He removed all of his traces and was currently in hiding. No wonder Ari knew how to use mana. She had a capable guardian by her side.

What happened to her? Was she in the werewolves’ realm all this time?

I could not ask. She would not answer anyway. Ari was wary of men, especially alphas. I had sensed it the moment I was too close to her and saw the terror in her eyes. If only she would tell me something, I would crush each and everyone who had

hurt her.

I was born to do it.

I was born to be her protector although clearly, I had been failing.

As the dragons and wolves continued to howl for the princess we lost, Ari’s face had turned pale. The three realms were once again, uniting to call her back home. She looked like she could not breathe. When her knees gave out, I caught her.
