Chapter 169
(Ari)
I heard the door open and closed but I didn’t attempt to turn around. I tossed the folder and turned onto the next. They were from Grigor’s locked drawers which I destroyed. When I couldn’t find any information about Dani, I turned to the next ledger and scanned the pages nervously.
Simon hated me. He had always wanted me. He’d repeatedly told me how much he wanted to have a taste of me but after I vomited at the sight of his body, his hatred grew tenfold. Not to mention that their clients wanted their women unsullied. The alphaholes were okay with having puppets with a few broken bones, they considered that as an integral part of teaching omegas how to behave properly in front of them. They didn’t mind if we had never-ending scars or burnt marks on our bodies as long as we were virgins.
Virgins always sell more, one of the reasons why Grigor never let his enforcers get too far with their victims.
Since he couldn’t have me, Simon found ways to let out his frustration every single day. And he made sure it would scar so I would never forget. Maybe this was one of those. They knew I would return for Dani. They would still have a use for her. They wouldn’t simply get rid of her. Because she was still too young, they used her as an all-around servant like the other kids.
‘Your sister is gone!’
I shook my head as his disgusting voice rang in my ears. There was a possibility that Simon said that as his last way to torture my soul. And he got exactly what he wanted. He saw me break.
After watching their bodies turn to ash, I forced myself to get moving. That was how I landed into Grigor’s office.
The prince cleared his throat. “Ari-”
“I fucking knew it!” I exclaimed, relief washing over me when I found a lead.
According to the records, Dani was sold to a certain Mr. L a week after I entered the academy. There was no further information about the buyer, but I would find whoever the hell he was and retrieve my sister at all costs.
“You are Thirteen. You are one of the victims, aren’t you? You are an omega.”
For a second there, my heart stopped. Slowly, I spun around to face Aidan. Surprisingly, Sebastian was not with him. When Sebastian left to grab a medicine kit for me from the ambulance nearby, I took it as an opportunity to escape although no one else doubted why I was there.
Even when the omegas heard me, even when they probably saw the real me when I desperately searched for Dani and dealt with Simon and Grigor, none of them said a word. Instead, their eyes held so much
understanding, one thing that only those who were as damaged as I was could understand and give freely.
I laughed to hide the increasing tension in my body. “You’re delusional-”
“I’ve known it from the start, Ari. I saw your true form since the orientation.”
All my attempts to brush it off died with his last sentence. He had known all along? How? I wanted to ask but that would mean implicating myself more. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Aidan.”
“I will use all my resources to track down every client the House of Lemadon obtained since the year they started their business. We will retrieve the omegas they bought, and I will find your sister, Ari. You have my word.”
I scoffed. “I don’t believe in the words of an alpha. I once fell for them. That’s how I landed in this hell.”
The sadness in his eyes struck me. “I know. That’s why I will prove it to you, Ari. I am never going to use your designation or glamour against you, if that is what you are worried about.”
There was no accusation or judgment in his eyes. Instead, there was something there apart from tenderness that was new to me, something that both the omega and the beast in me wanted to keep seeing. What was it? What was that emotion called?

Chapter 169
“What do you want then?”
“Your forgiveness.”
I was taken aback when the alpha prince suddenly kneeled in front of me, disregarding the filthy floor. “W-why are you doing this? Stand up. I’m just-”
“I would be on my knees as many times as possible for you, Ari.” There were too many emotions in Aidan’s eyes, calling out to me. Some I could recognize. Regrets, sadness, self-loathing, and pain. I looked into my own reflection every day and saw the same thing. “You must have escaped. With your guts and ability, I was sure you were able to do that. You must have been desperate. And you must have been very afraid. I am so, so sorry I was not there during those times, Ari. I am so sorry you had to go through so much ordeal.”
He wouldn’t be able to imagine what kind of ordeal I went through. Most were in the hands of Pack Lemadon, others in the hands of their clients. But something was telling me that if I let him know, he would run amok.
Remembering how Aidan punished my abusers on my behalf somehow lessened the ache in my soul. When I was too weak, when I was trembling so hard, he took my revenge on my behalf. And on behalf of the omegas who suffered.
The House of Lemadon’s downfall wasn’t the end though. It was only the beginning. Their clients were still out there, safe and alive. They still had the omegas under their possession. One of them was Dani.
The prince would fight for me and do things I didn’t ask. Without question. Without hesitation. The McAllisters had changed my future and eliminated the main threats in my life. I knew without a doubt that it was the Luna Queen’s doing.
Maybe if I wasn’t too damaged, maybe I could give Aidan and this mate bond a chance.
“You have nothing to be sorry about. It wasn’t your fault. I was just… unlucky.”
Four words I told myself every day.
“You were not. But your other mates have to know, Ari. They need to understand-”
“No.”
I thought of Sebastian and clenched my hands. His pack file was among the information I saw a while ago. One of Grigor’s acquaintances happened to be someone very close to his heart. If he were to know what I did to that person, he would despise me. He would break his promises. He was not going to stay. There was no use exposing my identity to someone who was going to leave anyway.
And then I thought of Satan.
I would never tell him the truth. He didn’t deserve it.
“They don’t have to know. Nobody deserves to know. Not even you, honestly.”
“But that is the only way I can take you out of the Academy, Ari. You don’t have to keep staying there. I will provide for you. I will get you a place of your own, with guards who can protect you-”
“If you take me out of BMB, I will never forgive you, Aidan. I will not rely on another alpha. I will find my sister on my own.” His Highness’ offer was tempting but I’d been trapped for too long. I didn’t need another cage. I only needed to keep holding out for the next few years and prove my worth. “I will make it to the top and become the first omega who outshines the alphas. I will survive this on my own. Watch me. I will become every alpha’s worst nightmare.”
“Including me?”
