Chapter 44

(Creed)

“Stop recording! Put away your cameras!”

4362

The guards yelled at the dozens of reporters who witnessed Robert Richards, the legendary chairman of Richards Empire lose himself live on televisions. He was naked, his hair was messy like it hadn’t seen even a drop of water for days, his hands and feet were full of filth, his eyes were wild as he charged towards the demons that he claimed he was seeing.

Cameras kept rolling. The world watched as he pointed at a blank space, his mouth foaming.

“Get away from me, you bitch! Or else I’m going to kill you!” he screamed.

“What is happening to the chairman?”

“Is he sick?”

“What will happen to the empire now?”

The series of questions launched against the chairman who ran butt naked outside of his company caught his attention. He growled at them, but then a minute of recognition crossed his eyes as if he was remembering who and where he was just now. He glanced down, horrified at being exposed in front of several people smirking and laughing at him when in his head, they should be treating him as their god. He charged towards a male reporter, lifted him up, and strangled him with his shaky hands.

Dante, my pack enforcer, was currently in the human realm and was working as one of Robert’s guards. I knew he was ready to move to ensure that no innocent humans would be involved when Elianna’s ex-husband showed up and easily disentangled his father from the reporter.

He turned to his old man, mouthed something to him which made him run back inside in a hurry as he took charge, fixed the reporter’s ruined collar, and handed his card.

“I’m so sorry about that. It seems like my father drank more than his body could tolerate. Please get yourself treated and contact this number for the compensation. We will release another statement once he’s sobered. I will make him apologize properly.”

Richards smiled and gave a brief update about their business expansion, calming the crowd in his own way. However, while he was in the middle of delivering his closing remark, a loud thud followed by screams interrupted him.

The reporters ran. Minutes later, the cameras revealed their chairman on the ground, choking on his own blood. He seemed to have jumped down all the way from the helipad in his birthday suit.

When I motioned my hand, Dale turned off the screen. Robert would live. For now. The rogue blood in his system would save his life. But that was all it would do. It would not heal a severe injury like his. From the moment he woke up to the day he breathed his last, all he would be able to do was watch as the world passed him by, as everyone moved on and forget him, unable to do anything else. I doubt if he could still lift a finger after that.

The image he had protected for decades ended today.

There will be more to come,

More seizures. More incidents. More legacies to ruin.

I accepted the wine glass lord Camden offered and clicked my glass with his. I supposed it was a good time to drink. When the little celebration ended and the lords began taking off one by one until only Dale and the Alpha King remained, the conference room was engulfed in silence until a phone call interrupted it.

Chapter 44

It was Ross, one of the guards I assigned with Vicious.

His last update was three hours ago when she decided to head out of our house and then proceeded on an impromptu feeding program where she emptied three bakeshops using my card. She also bought all the toys, clothes, and shoes in the children’s section in two shopping malls which she donated to the nearest orphanage under hashtag Pray For Black’s Soul Movement. Not to mention the groceries she sent there which would probably last for a year.

That silly hashtag of hers had reached the internet which left the shifters wondering whether it was me or my sister that was dying for such ‘movement’ to be crafted on our behalf. People were both pleased and worried.

Vicious’ rebellion did not stop there.

Hence, this call.

“What did my wild little mate do this time?” I asked Ross as I leaned on my swivel chair while massaging my temple. I instantly felt two pairs of eyes on me.

Dale and His Majesty slightly moved closer to my seat. When I scowled at them, the King cleared his throat and looked away while my second-in-command pretended to be busy with his phone.

Today was the day when Vicious thought she was going back to her homeland.

“Miss Elianna is currently choosing a car, alpha. The manager saw your card and asked me to contact you first and verify if it was okay for Miss Elianna to use it for a sports car.”

Ross was on a video call and pointed his phone at Vicious’ direction. She was in her grieving attire, it seemed. All black paired with a lace veil. No wonder why people were concerned. I couldn’t see her eyes behind her dark glasses, and I didn’t have to. I knew she cried all night. I was there, on the other side of the locked door, listening to her weep and curse me the whole time. She must have thought I would not hear through the rock music that blasted throughout the house.

But I did.

My senses were all attuned to her.

She faced Ross and I got to see her face clearly. She was munching on her beef burger. On the table near her, there were sandwiches, fries, pizza boxes, and drinks. She lifted her sunglasses, revealing those beguiling dark brown eyes and the circles underneath it. “What’s this? Are you reporting me to your psycho boss?”

“Miss Elianna-”

“Hand me that phone.”

She was the smallest adult in this realm, but I saw the way she glared at Ross. And he obviously lost the fight since only a few seconds later and I was already seeing Vicious huff. It was the first time I saw her face properly since our argument. She’d stuffed her room with food and drinks before I got home to make sure that she would not have a reason to leave her room when I was around, teaching me what it meant to miss someone.

I threw a quick shot at her burger and smiled a little, relieved that she had not forgotten to take her meals, an action that she misinterpreted, seeing as her eyes turned murderous.

“What? Are you surprised I’m still eating? Hungry strikes are for people who have a death wish. I still want to live. How can I curse you when I’m dead?”

“I heard you are buying a sports car,” I said calmly even if all I wanted to do was go straight to where she was, grab her face, and punish that harsh mouth of hers.

“What now?” Vicious asked, daring me with her eyes. Her rosy lips thinned with the rage boiling inside her for days now. “Are you going to stop me?”

Chapter 44

“That tiny human is being too much, don’t you think?” I heard the King whisper beside me. “Go ahead and say it, son Make her see our alpha dominance in case she is forgetting who we are. Raise our flag.”

“And spoil your fun?” I answered her instead. “No way, Vicious. I just wanted to ask if you have found which car to buy

Dale and the King’s shoulders sagged in disbelief. They looked at me like I’d betrayed the entire alphas.

“Yeah. That one.”

She pointed at the bright red two-seater sports car which suited her personality. The manager beside Ross quickly added that it was the latest model with removable hardtop and the most expensive among their displays, about forty million dollars in Vicious’ world.

She was testing my limits, thinking that if I get pissed enough, I will send her back.

Vicious had yet to understand how deep my obsession ran. She had yet to realize that when it came to her, I had no limits.

I smiled at her, making her frown. “If that’s the case, then take it. While you’re at it, why don’t you order more colors?”

Gritting her teeth, Vicious turned to the manager. “How many colors of this car are there?”

“There are three more colors, madam. They are not here as of the moment but we could order if you want to.”

“Kindly do it then. Get me all of them.”

Vicious pointed the phone camera at the male manager whose eyes bulged from all the commission he was probably calculating in his head.

“L-lord Creed,” he greeted.

“You heard my mate. Money is not a problem. Give her everything she wants.”

Since Vicious could not shift, she was probably planning to hit me with her car. Her murderous thoughts should not be underestimated. I should take more guards with me just in case.

After the call, the King shook his head. “You let that tiny woman talk to you like that? How come she is still alive?”

He looked genuinely curious.

“Should I still be surprised? Elianna probably got that side of her from you.” I brought out her mother’s picture from my pocket. “This is the second thing I want to talk to you about, your majesty. Does the woman look familiar?”

His fingers trembled. “She looks exactly like the human Riodes introduced to me before although her hair was dark then. Wait. Is Elianna that human’s child? Then she was among the humans who sent my brother to his grave!”

“No, your majesty. Elianna has no human blood. Based on our research, her mother, Lauren Dawson, is using a fake identity. She was not in any way involved with the twelve families. We are yet to find out who and what she truly is, but I can assure you, your majesty, that Lauren is neither a human nor a witch. We already ran some tests.” Dale brought out the documents,
