Chapter 52

(El)

Creed’s admission hit me like a freight train. It passed through all my walls. He brushed his thumbs over my cheekbones and my heart rate kicked up a notch. I was truly and utterly lost for words. I unbuckled my seatbelt and slid out of the car because suddenly, the car was too small for us and too much at once.

I took a few deep breaths and just… walked. Aimlessly. I heard Creed heading out of the car as well. He trailed behind me Again, he didn’t question my eccentricity like he knew I needed this and he may not agree but he respected that enough to let me be.

“Vicious…”

“It’s not supposed to be like this between us, Black,” I murmured without turning in his direction, suddenly feeling vulnerable. “We are too different.”

“No, we are not.”

“How can you say that? You are a werewolf. An alpha. A lord.”

“What if I tell you that you are not who you think you are? Would you believe me?”

“And what am I? A secret billionaire? A hidden princess?”

I laughed at how cliché and unreal that sounded even to me. He did not.

“Elianna, you are-”

“You are too damn rich,” I blurted out all of a sudden.

“I don’t see it being a problem. You enjoy money and I happen to have lots of it.”

“You are too… old,” I said when I was starting to lose reasons why we should not be together.

“Goddamn it, woman.”

I giggled despite the nerves getting to me. I was just mumbling. When I turned around and found Creed just five steps away. his lips twitching into a smirk, it awakened the pervy beast inside me for wanting to suck on those rosy lips just once. With that face and body, even a ruler would bend.

I told myself that I was like this only because I was attracted to his face and fine, to his personality too.

Creed reached out a hand to me again, a hand I would have accepted had I not heard something in the sky that distracted both of us. And suddenly, I heard growling from his wolf and from Dale and the guards a couple of meters away from us. When I looked up, I saw something flying in the sky, but it all happened too fast. It disappeared in the clouds before I could get a good look at it. I just knew it had wings. But I could swear it was not a plane.

Something else.

Something that was only in the story books.

A dragon.

My jaw dropped.

Mages, witches, and werewolves were real. Thanks to this realm, I discovered their existence. And now, dragons too? What the heck?

Chapter 52

It was like being inside a fairytale book where I was the extra and I was witnessing every main character and fantasy creature coming to life. Every day, there seemed to be something new to discover. And my simple brain cells were finding it hard to adjust.

Goodness, I was still processing what I’d just witnessed in the warehouse brought by a witch. No, actually, I was still in the werewolf phase. The mages and witches were pushed back in the corners of my mind. I had to. Otherwise, I’d lose it from information overload.

My measly brain had no space for dragons.

Just when I was about to ask Creed, the hairs on my nape rose. When I looked around, I saw them. Several armed men wearing masks. And they were running towards us.

“Black, watch out!” I screamed before bullets rained on us.

Creed quickly grabbed my hand, shielded me with his body as he led me inside the car while the guards exchanged fire with the intruders. He pushed me inside the passenger seat.

“Listen to me this time, Vicious. Do not fucking come out again. Do you understand?”

I nodded.

That was all Creed needed to see before he shifted, allowing me to see the beast within him. My lips parted as I witnessed the alpha charging forward despite the bullets. They were fast, but my beast was faster. I saw how the big, bad, black wolf leaped into the air and landed onto one of his attackers. He was able to tear through the guy’s flesh, reminding me of his true predator form.

The fear was absent in my chest this time. All I could feel was anxiety. Not for me. For him. Another scream was ripped out of my throat when I saw him get shot in his thigh. He didn’t mind as he pushed through until another bullet hit his arm.

Every hit only made the wolf more dangerous. His roar was louder than the thunder. The rain poured as the battle went on. When I saw how badly Creed was bleeding, I dialed the crown prince’s number.

“Your Highness, it’s me,” I said as my eyes watered when I saw Creed fell down from the third bullet, but still somehow managed to rise. Dale and the others were wounded too. There were too many of them.

“Elianna?” Terrence sounded shocked. “To whom do I owe the pleasure-”

I cut him off. “My mate is in trouble, your highness. Can you please send a backup?”

“What? Where are you exactly?”

I described where we were.

“Alright. I know that place. Calm down, Elianna. I’m coming. I’m bringing my own pack. We’ll be there in ten minutes.”

“Hurry please. Black is bleeding.”

I ended the call and started praying. Hard. When I could no longer watch, I lowered my head and shut my eyes, hoping now more than ever that I was not a simple human so I could go out there and help him at least.

I nearly jumped out of my seat when I heard a knock on the window. When I looked up, I saw… Creed. Standing in the middle of the rain. My gaze immediately landed at the scene in front and realized that it was over.

Finally.

The masked men were lying on the ground. My… alpha led his pack. They were outnumbered. And still won.

My..alpha

“Are you okay, Vicious?” he asked in his human form.

Chapter 52

He didn’t wait for me to answer. He scanned my body. The relief in his eyes upon seeing me okay nearly undid me.

With Greed naked, I saw the blood running down his body. He was bleeding in a lot of places. I rushed out of the car. sobbing, as I cupped his face. “Worry about yourself! You almost died! You almost became a demon!”

He frowned. “What?”

62

“In my realm, when humans die, they either become angels or demon’s assistants. But since you’re you. you could become a demon.” I sniffled.

A soft smile played on his lips. “Vicious, you could just say you were worried.”

My shoulders shook. The words were out before I could control my mouth. “I was worried.”

“There. It wasn’t too hard, was it?”

And then he kissed me.

And I kissed him back.

When he freed my lips, he stroked my cheeks while I sobbed. “I’m glad you listened to me this time, Vicious.”

“Your wounds-“

“Hush now. They are healing already although some wounds will take time to get better since the bullets were laced with wolfsbane.”

I knew that one. It was a plant that could poison wolves.

When I looked down at Creed’s bare chest, I saw the cuts closing although the parts of him where he was shot were still bleeding severely. The last time I was this worried was when I heard that my mom got into an accident. More tears slid down my cheeks as the realization of what just happened hit me.

“I’m okay,” Creed assured me.

“My mom told me not to trust anyone. Especially werewolves,” I whispered instead.

He was stunned for a while before he responded, “Are you going to follow her advice?”

“No. I disobeyed her again.” My voice cracked. “I did worse than that.”

For the second time, I’d been a bad daughter.

I didn’t just trust a werewolf.

I might be in love with one.
