Claimed By My Husband's Enemy novel Chapter 67

He nodded, looking satisfied by my answer. ‘And her daughter?’

‘The rainbow.”

Alistair shook his head. ‘Now you are talking from the perspective of a man who was completely blinded by love. How was I supposed to believe that statement?’

‘If you look at the person you love and don’t see the colors in her, don’t see the rainbow through her, then you are the blind one.’

‘You are becoming a human, Black. Only the lesser beings believe in love!’

I shrugged, not giving a damn. I did not feel lesser at all, except for this moment, while watching Elianna who was sitting alone on the sand and staring at the ocean. Her dress was devoid of color today. It was nude.

She asked for privacy when the doctor came by this afternoon. The two were stuck together for half an hour inside our room. If the doctor was a man, I would not have tolerated it.

To say that my world now revolved around this little woman was the understatement of the year. I sat in front of her, blocking her view of the ocean. I wanted her attention; I wanted to soak up in it. She was unconscious for three days. I wanted to savor the feeling of having those chocolate-brown eyes on me.

The mark on her throat was making my beast pace back and forth inside me, snarling at the thought of Richards claiming her without her consent. The bastard had learned to use mana: one of the dragon’s gifts. He revealed their marks at the perfect time. He must have been itching to do it to make me realize that even if they were no longer man and wife, he still had a claim on her.

The second those eyes were on me and she smiled, I got it. Richards’ and everyone’s fixation over her. Heck, I was one of them. The only difference was that she chose to be with me now.

I kissed her hands.

“You did it,” I muttered.

“Did what?”

“The document just arrived today. You are finally free from Richards officially today. As for his dragon mark on you, it’s not going to last, Eli. He can’t take you from me. I will die before that happens.” I decided to focus on our first victory for the day. “You are now back to being Elianna Dawson. Congratulations.”

“Thank you. Congratulations to you too, Black.”

I frowned. She was smiling but why did it look like the world was ending for her? “For what?”

“You’re about to become a father.”
