Chapter 72

(Creed)

“How about putting him in a deep slumber?” Terrence suggested after hearing Dale’s latest report about Richards who was currently using the tamer’s blood to hide himself. “It’s our only choice. Anything else can hurt Princess Eli and the baby”

“They are both marked and claimed. We have already tested the depth of their bond. It was deep enough that Richards can get through Elianna’s strong mental barrier and make a puppet out of her. If we do that, the chances of Elianna also falling into a slumber is high,” Jacques Rosewood answered, looking older than the last time I saw him.

“How do we restrain him then?” the Alpha King asked while massaging his temple. “How do we restrain a dragon while ensuring my niece and my grandchild’s safety?”

“Let’s not forget that the tamers may have formidable spells and powerful blood, but apart from shifting, they have one more weakness. Their bodies are built like humans,” Anson Rosewood commented. “They are not like us. One wrong move on our side and we could lose Elianna unless she magically awakens.”

“Any suggestions about awakening?” I asked the queen of the mages.

“Forced awakening is possible for other people, General Black,” Aurelia Lewis replied. “It has been done before. However, I would not recommend it for pregnant women. The procedure takes up to a week, and it can get bloody.”

Today was the first time in history that the dragons, mages, and werewolves sat together for an emergency meeting. The impossible only became possible because of one person tying our realms together.

Elianna.

I turned to Alistair next. “Any news about Richards’ location?”

He shook his head. “I have a feeling that the hatchling is working with the witches. The proof itself is us being unable to locate him until now when it was supposed to be easy with the three realms working as one.”

Aurelia nodded. “I agree. A dragon who was new to shifting would have found it difficult to navigate his new life as a hybrid, but everything seems too easy for this hatchling. Not to mention that this cloaking spell is not an easy thing to master. And he had already done it perfectly.”

“The words that princess Elianna chanted when she tried to escape belong to ancient spells,” Alistair informed. “The witches must have approached Richards after they failed to invade your realm. He was young, still very easy to fool and with the tamer’s blood in his system, they must have seen the perfect opportunity to rise to power again.”

“I can offer you an option other than waiting this out,” Jacques said, looking straight into my eyes. “But you will definitely hate it.”

“Then I would rather not hear it.” His eyes flared in annoyance. “That’s what I would say in another situation. But we are losing time. So, fine, let us hear you out, your excellency.”

Before he could open his mouth, we all heard a knock. Unease crawled up my arms. While the rest of them threw quick glances at each other, I quickly took my phone out where Eli was being monitored. I left her sleeping in our room just above our place an hour ago. And now, the fucking camera had been turned off.

“Come in,” the Alpha King gestured to his aide who opened the door, revealing Silver.

I did not have to hear the rest of it. Seeing her pale face once again was enough. The fact that she bravely barged in here knowing that all of the high-ranking officials from different realms were here in an important meeting already said it all.

“The princess is… gone, alpha. We tried to stop her but…”

Chapter 72

Clearly, judging by the blood oozing on her forehead, it did not work out

Goddamn it. I fought the intense desire to crush something as my wolf roared from pain and wrath Silver was also the same person who delivered the news about Eli being wounded during her welcome party. I should not have accepted her offer to guard her. So far, she had brought me nothing but trauma.

No, what the hell was going on with me? Why was I putting the blame on her? I should not have left Eli’s side at all. If we had to have the meeting inside our bedroom while she slept or in the corridor to ensure that she was not going anywhere, I should have done it.

In an instant, everyone rose from their seats. Aramides sent Dale along with his aide away to gather the troops. The second Silver and the two men were gone; Anson locked the door.

“From this moment on, we should limit the spreading of information. Only the seven of us should communicate and no one else.”

“Dale and Silver are pack members,” I retorted.

“And Liam is my aide who has been with me for almost a hundred years,” the Alpha King said, his hands balling into angry fists. “They can be trusted.”

“Whether they have been with you since you two were born, I do not care,” Jacques answered. “Us, dragons, do not trust anyone else outside of our circle. We are only working with you for the sake of our family. Unless you want to shatter what little trust we have built together for the past few weeks, I suggest you listen to my brother’s suggestion and do not speak any more of our conversations outside. There is no need to involve them. We, rulers, can handle this ourselves.”

“Alright,” The King and I answered through gritted teeth.

We needed their help. There was no space for pride. I would lay it all down for my mate.

“Frankly, I believe this situation works for the best. This is what I would have suggested. Elianna is certainly back with the hatchling as we speak. With this, we can now move forward.”

“What? How?” the Alpha King and Terrence asked in unison.

“General Black had worked with me for weeks to create a piece of jewelry that would locate the princess,” Aurelia replied before turning to me. “Is she wearing her necklace right now, General?”

I nodded. It was the result of studying spells. Aurelia combined her mana and my blood with the necklace which would enable me to track Eli and communicate with her no matter where she was. We tested it and modified it a few times to make sure that it would not catch any supernatural’s attention, that it would not get any reaction from them in case they touch it since I needed it to remain with Eli for as long as possible. After she almost vanished before, I realized I needed a backup plan.

Eli had no idea that her necklace was enchanted.

Jacques rose. “Let’s get moving. Aurelia, cast a spell on the hatchling in case he fights back. Crushing him will only happen after I unbind my niece with him. It’s time the young ones learn their lessons.”

“Understood.”

Fury boiled inside me. As I stormed out of the conference room, a text message from an unknown number stopped me in my tracks.

‘Now you know what I felt like when you took my wife away from me. It doesn’t feel good, does it? As someone who has been there before, here’s a piece of advice, Black. It’s hard at first. And from here on out, brace yourself. It’s gonna get harder. Good luck with that, Black. Don’t worry, I’ll give your regards to my mate.’

I smashed my phone against the wall and let out a roar as the pain cut me in half.

Chapter 72

Today, Eli would be proud. I learned another emotion. And it was thanks to my mate again.

Today, I learned what a broken heart was about.

Today, I lost all the colors at once. In a blink of an eye, I was back to living in gray.
